A Day In The Life Of........... Maggie

Last Thursday to be exact!!

It started off innocently enough, I went to work, then I had a physiotherapy appointment on my lunch hour for my leg. My therapist did acupuncture on me that day, which I was looking forward to, as it has always worked well for me in the past, for different reasons.
Later that day, my leg started to hurt more than it ever has in the past?????

I also had a psychiarist's appointment after work, which I wasn't looking forward to, due to the pain in my leg. I rush to my shrink's office and ring her doorbell, she answers but is very surprised to hear from me. Apparently my appointment was the day before! I had it in my calendar book for the 22nd but she said it was for the 21st. She was very upset with me, telling me how busy she was, how many other people needed the appointment...she vented for about fifteen minutes. I was so stressed that I was crying, she then put up her hand and said, "okay, it's done........let's get on with our therapy". WTF!! How could I go from her making me feel like a piece of crap and then just step into our regular therapy routine?

I managed somehow (with a great deal of mental strength) and after my session she ended up driving me home.

Okay, I'm home now, feeling bad but coping. Then Rosey decided to have a piddle on the kitchen floor. She's running away from me and I'm trying to catch her and wipe her bum before she tracks it around. Just then, my leg gives out from underneath me and I end up crashing to the floor, landing mainly on the side of my head. OUCH!!!!

Okay, shit happens, but unfortunately, mine left a mark .

I have been trying to cover it with make-up, but today one of my favorite patients (an M.D.) looked at me and said, "did you fall?" And then, with a knowing sympathetic face, in a low sincere whisper said, "did someone hit you?" She definitely believed the latter to be true!!

I was scheduled to attend a seminar this evening but after that, decided to take a pass.
People are too quick to make snap judgements and I didn't want to be the topic of conversation.

I'm fine really, but here is a picture so you can judge for yourself. (This picture was taken tonight, five days later)

BTW There is nothing wrong with the lighting of my camera, that pretty yellow on my forehead is all mine.

PS Today was a great day, simply because it was uneventful.

Hugs & Kisses
Maggie

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like........... Christmas.

I'm not a Christmas person per say. The commercialism of the Holy Day dims my ability to embrace the season.
Letting all that go, I went shopping today. My daughter and her boyfriend will be spending Christmas apart, [her with me, him with his family in England]. His birthday is December 2, so they decided to celebrate this day as their Christmas. They are even putting up a tree.

He seems like a nice chap, :) funny and easy to please. Very intelligent!! I send them parcels every month with goodies and necessities. My baby is vegetarian and so is he to a point, but he likes to eat fish.
Last month I sent him a couple of cedar planks for cooking fish, especially salmon. He was so thrilled with them, I was embarrassed, as I forgot I even put them in the parcel.

This all leads to the birthday present I got him. He loves pesto, he puts it in almost all the dishes he cooks.

I really hope he likes it!!!!!

Now he can make his own, whenever he likes!!!

Getting back to Christmas......... since they are having their first christmas together, I bought them beautiful wooden ornaments and some other things for their tree. I also got them hats and filled stockings. And of course, one of each for their cat Pint.

This is not a great picture , but I bought them ornaments in which I could put pictures of Pint and Rosey.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, Christmas can be a good thing sometimes, if you put it all into perspective. A small example:

Young Love, First Christmas and lest we not forget...............

'tis better to give than to receive.

PS I'm no saint, but I do believe this.

(I also put mistletoe in their parcel)
Ahhhhhh..........................to be young and in love!!!!!

Another Query Of Sorts

Okay Guys, Here We Go Again.......

This one starts about 4 years ago. I have a patient that is very handsome and sweet. I was not in the frame of mind to be attracted to him but somewhere in the recesses of my mind, I was. But for one reason alone that hindered my attraction, he had had a dental procedure done when he was twelve that I couldn't accept.[very shallow of me].

He was a bit standoffish during the next couple of years but perhaps that was because of me?
Being a woman..........

Well, during the time inbetween then and now, our office manager told me that when she called his home, another man was on the answering machine, answering for both of them.

He was in last week and we had a great rapport [he is from Cape Breton also]. His father had died the summer past and it had been very hard on him. Then he was telling me how he loved christmas, and he was like Chevy Chase with his outdoor decorations. I saw my opening and said, " how does your partner feel about all that?" He said , "they" had no problem with it.

Since then, I have seen him a number of times in our local "BIG" grocery store, and he has always hugged me with a warm welcome. Tonight I saw him and he immediately gave me the biggest hug I have ever gotten and proceeded to tell me he was thinking of me this week and couldn't remember why, but it was very important. He said he would call me later in the week when he remembered what it was about.

Is he relieved that I could not be attracted to him because I know about his"partner"?
That I pose no threat to him and he can feel free to hug me because I know and he wants to be my friend?

Actually, I would love to have him as a close friend, I just don't know how to go about it.
Do I make the first move and suggest lunch?
Help me out here guys!!!!!!

A Matter Of Opinion

I need your help guys....................

There is this young man, (thirty tops) that owns the local convenience store in my neighbourhood. He is from Albania and had lived in Toronto for a couple of years before moving here. We chat about Toronto, his buying an apartment building, his trying to sell his condo. His wife who is a doctor in the navy, but the big topic of discussion is his huge cat and my Rosey.
He said he would e-mail me some pictures of his cat so I could see how big she really is, so I gave him my e-mail address. The cat is HUGE!!

This week he has continued to send me e-mails, even though I see him at the store almost every day. Yesterday I made a point of talking to him about his wife because in one of his e-mails he said that he would like for me to see his apartment building. I said that would be nice because I would get a chance to meet her. [wifey]

Here is my dilemma.......I received this e-mail today and I'm wondering about him.
I'd like your opinion if it's innocent or is there some underlying message.

Hi Maggie.
How are you? It was nice to see you tonight at my work. You look great.Yes,of course you are welcome to meet my wife one day,but right now she is way for a month working on the ship. She works for the navy as a medical doctor, but if you want to see a picture of her I will send it to you. It is a little late and I am going to sleep. I hope you have a nice day tomorrow. Hopefully I will see you around some day.

"Life Is Like A Box of Chocolates. You Never Know What You're Gonna Get."

In response to Dr. Ur-Spo's comment on my last post......, no.

I have been down and feeling blue the past couple of weeks. Just when I think I have this thing licked.......wham. It hits you like a bolt of lightening. It's really nothing that I can put my finger on, it just happens. But like all things in life, it soon will pass. I really dislike posting when I feel like this, so..... I want to apologize for my delinquency.

That being said... today was a great day!! It is Rememberance Day, where we honour our war veterans. Those brave young men who fought for our country and our freedom. Not so great, is our troops fighting a war that is spearheaded by a deluded, "One Man's War".
We (Canada) just lost another five men in the past couple of days.

Enough!!!!

On a much lighter note............
Today is Rosey's sixth birthday!!!
And what a sweet little birthday girl she is..............................

I love her to pieces!!!!!!!

On a much, much lighter note. Here is a photo that I hope will bring a smile to your lips.

PS Click on picture to....[enlarge] it. ;0)

Take Care ,

With Much Love,

Maggie

Friday....................

Today it's TGIF, I'm exhausted, so is my leg.

I have mentioned in the past that I have something wrong with my leg, but they are still trying to find out what it is. In the meantime, back at the ranch, ;) it's been giving me a lot of pain lately, today was no exception. As a matter of fact it was downright excruciating.

They called and left a message for physiotherapy today (I was referred in July) so maybe that will help.
I have had every test known to man (I think ) but they are stumped. I also have an appointment with an Orthopedic Surgeon on Dec. 10 (that was booked last January).
Hopefully he can find the problem.

Enough!!! :) Good News!!

I was able to get enrolled in a Clinical Teaching Course for the fall semester!! Yeah!!
It is very popular and they only allow eight people in the course. The students vary from Doctor's, Dentist's and Professor's new to the teaching environment. It's every Tuesday evening and from what I've heard it's all role-playing and we are video taped doing it the wrong way, then the right way. We all play different characters in everyone's particular situation. This should be a hoot!!!

It's good to be home just blogging and reading blogs.(I have a lot to get caught up on).

Have A Wonderful Weekend Everyone,
Hugs Maggie

Friday......

Another great day at the university. I think I'm really beginning to enjoy this gig !! :)

This morning I had a meeting with the Director of The Department of Dental Studies. She wanted to know what my expectations were in regards to my future with the University. I told her that I really was enjoying my time with the students and felt that I had a lot to offer them with my skills and personal interaction. (I was laying low because I didn't really know where this was going).

She was really feeling me out in regards to how much time I could give them, considering I had a full time job. I told her Fridays were fine so far and we would see where we would go from there. They also want me on Monday evenings. She also spoke about a mentoring program that was being developed and would I be interested. I said I would be interested and that it would be something that I would enjoy immensely.

All in all it went well and I am thrilled that they are pleased with my work thus far.

Sorry that all I talk about lately is this, but right now this is very important to my well being and future.

Have a great weekend folks!!!!

It's The Weekend.....Fantástico !!!!!

Well it's Friday again, so I guess that means, it's time for me to post.

I'll start off with the clinic again, to no one's surprise. Today was another great learning experience, for the students and myself as well. I don't know how to say this without bias, but in the short time I have been there, I can tell who's going to be good and who isn't.
Not just because of the quality of their work but their eagerness to learn and correct their mistakes and also take advantage of the instructors knowledge and experience.
The student I was so worried about last week? Well, I talked to her instructor this week and he gave her a U(unacceptable) today. (I tried to be kind and gave her a T (learning experience).
She didn't listen to a thing I said last week, which makes me sad and dissappointed.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule, so we'll see........

When I was in clinic (during university) I should have gotten the Eager Beaver Award. I was never afraid to ask anything and took it much more seriously than my theory. Theory couldn't fail me, clinic could. As a result, I got a 99.3 as my final clinic mark, based on the entire time I was there. To me, theory was easy.
I better stop, I think I'm starting to brag. :-)

On totally different note, I ATE TURKEY on Thanksgiving and it was delicioso. No problems with my digestive system or anything.
That's what I was really worried about guys, too many trips to the bathroom. But Nada,
"Lo que un alivio".

Have A Great Weekend Everyone,

Lo que será, será,
Maggie

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!!!!!

For those of you living in, "The Great White North".

I don't know why they call us that, it's so green here!!

Anyhoo, today was another day at University. I don't know why I write on Fridays lately, maybe it's because I have such a great day at clinic?

Today was fantastic. Busy as hell but very rewarding. I could never see myself teaching in a classroom environment, but teaching in the clinic seems to be my niche, I love it. Probably because I'm one of those people, I like to see immediate results.

Everyone did well today, with the exception of one. I felt terrible but I couldn't give her a passing grade on her assignment. She thought she did great was the worst part. At the end of clinic, I have to give out their evaluations and this one had me worried because she was so confident she had done well. I took her aside after she read my marks, explained all my comments on what she did wrong and then offered her some valuable information that would help her in the future. I hope she takes it. I also offered to help her with a personal tutorial but she didn't actually jump at the offer. Some people are like that and there's nothing I can do about it. Too bad!

Enough with that!! This is our Thanksgiving weekend and I am sooooo happy!! We have Monday and Tuesday off at work. As my sister has moved away (the one where I spend holiday dinners), I'm on my own. I haven't eaten meat in over a month, so I'm wondering if I will have turkey or not. We'll see how I feel. I have nothing against meat, I just haven eaten it since I was sick last month.

I hope you all have a great weekend and to those fellow Canucks........

Happy Thankgiving,

ENJOY...........
Turkey, Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, etc.(meaning veggies)

Happy Days

Hi, my title means exactly what it says, Happy Days are here again.

I've got the pain medication straightened out. I guess sometimes you have to find out things for yourself and not always depend on your GP to inform you of possible side effects. This is not the way it should be but with GP's being overworked, this is what happens. I'm lucky that I caught on to the dangers before it got too far, I feel so much more in control now. Knowledge is power!!
I have been given an anti-inflammatory medication which works well but does not relieve me of all my pain BUT it's not addictive, yeah!!!!

Secondly, I LOVE TEACHING!! I have been lacking in my life, something that makes me happy and fulfilled. I was in clinic today and I felt this was where I was meant to be. Students are like an empty cup, just waiting to be filled with knowledge, skills, and confidence.

One of my students today had a patient that required special attention. She handled it well and when I evaluated her I mentioned that on her form. She responded to me after reading my evaluation, that it helped her deal with the situation by having an instructor that was calm and helpful. How cool is that?
I mention this because it is immediate feedback, that I am helping someone become a better student/dentist.

I'm talking about all this because my personal life is on hold for awhile. Nothing bad, just some sorting out I have to do.

Enjoy Your Week-end!!!!!

NEWBIE AND LOVING IT !!!!!

I had my first day of teaching clinic last Friday.

What a GREAT day I had!!
I love what I do and to be able to teach young people what I love best, was absolutely FANTASTIC!! The students that I had were wonderful, eager and anxious to learn.

I didn't want to be the typical teacher, their way or no way. We have evaluation sheets that we have to fill out at the end of the clinic. There is Acceptable or Unacceptable. Before I filled it out, I asked the student questions regarding their work and what they thought of it.
Depending on how they answered, affected my final evaluation.
Remember, this is only their first day in clinic after their summer recess.

I find that explaining where they went wrong in a positive way and discussing it with them, helps them more than just writing it down for them to read later. Also, praise with criticism goes a long way in my opinion.

I also had a couple of students that fibed a bit.
eg. Intra-oral exam, Moi, "I didn't see you using your mirror to observe the palate". Student, "Oh, yes I did". I said, "Oh, I must have missed that".
We both knew that she didn't, but you can bet your bottom dollar that she won't forget again.

We have an employee in our practice that has a couple of friends in the dental program. Today I had a comment on my facebook from her (she's off this week)................

She said, "Hey Maggie, you got rave reviews from your students! Congrats"!

That made my day!!

Have a wonderful week...............................

I Missed You All Very Much!!!

This is part of the reason I've been away.

Be patient with me, I will try and explain as best as I can.

It all started with pain in my left leg and hip about a year ago. At times the pain was excruciating and as time went on, it got worse. Finally, a couple of months ago, I told my doctor I could no longer deal with the pain. I also asked him to send me for tests that would find out the problem. He prescribed tylenol # 3 that took the edge off but did not give me relief.
Then he prescribed hydro-morphine (4 mg) which did take away the pain. (4 or 5 a day).

I have had radiographs (x-rays) of my back and leg, CT spinal scan, Bone scan and they all had no significant findings except some degeneration of the hip joint. I'm seeing an orthopedic specialist in Dec. of this year. (It was booked last January) :-)

The pain I will once again mention, is sometimes unbearable. I work but am getting annoyed at people and patients asking me why I'm limping.

To bring the photo I posted into the picture (no pun intended), here is my story...........

The thursday before Labour Day, I decided I no longer wanted to be a slave to pain medication.
I just stopped taking them..... BIG MISTAKE!!!!
I had no idea how they affected me (except the fact that they relieved my pain) and thought nothing of just stopping. Friday morning I woke up sick to my stomach, severe diarrhea, cramps, shivers....... unable to function normally!!

I WAS ADDICTED!!!!! What a shock and embarrassment that was to me!!

I looked up prescription drug withdrawal online and it said, never just stop taking the medication, wean yourself off it.

Saturday came and I was still very sick. I called my pharmacy and explained the situation. They said the same thing, wean yourself off it slowly.
I was taking 4 pills a day, so I slowed down to 2 a day.
I couldn't eat anything, I was dying. It was like I knew how a junkie felt.

I had a appointment with my doctor the following tuesday. (this was saturday).

Tuesday came and I went for my appointment. I was furious but did not allow myself to show that emotion to my doctor. I did tell him that I was to hell and back that week-end because of the pain medication and to never give me anything of the sort again.

I'm down to one pill a day now and next week I will be completely off them.

I'm still in pain but nothing compared to the week-end of hell.

I'm telling my story because I hope it might help someone else who innocently takes medication from their doctor, not knowing what it is doing to their body.

Positive side to my story...............

First of all, finding out about it before it was too late.( I was only on them for about 2 months)

Secondly, I was so sick and had such severe diarrhea, I figured whatever toxins I had in my body, I had rid myself of them.
So.........I started a new eating regime. No red meat, as a matter of fact, I haven't eaten any kind of meat since. Only fish now. Also, I have stopped eating anything processed or white (bread, pasta, rice, etc.) I have lots of bran products, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, yogurt.

Don't ask me why.
We'll see how it goes. I'm not a fanatic, just more aware of what I put in my body.

I missed you all and can't wait to catch up on what you all have been up to while I've been away.

Mucho Hugs & Kisses,
Maggie

Readin' and Ritin' ........

I have a big confession to make. I like to read blogs more than I like to write.
That's just my nature, I like to listen more than I like to talk. [most times]
But there has to be give and take in Blogosphere, so here goes........

Long weekend here in the City of Universities. That's right folks, we have more universities in this city than any other city in Canada.

That means......... lots of students, lots of bars, lots of drinking, lots of carousing til the wee hours, lots of parties, lots of noise, lots of mischief (destructive)............
Are you getting the picture yet?

They are all moving in this weekend...........

I live in the part of this city that is considered old money and high social standing. Two of the most respected Uni's are also in this area. Therefore we have a mix of snobs, professionals, and drunken hooligans. [That's what they amount to on a friday or saturday nite]

It's interesting to watch them all cohabitate. As I'm sitting here on my computer, I'm looking out my window and I see them all milling about.

HomeOwners:
Some hiding behind their high fences with security. Others walking their dogs, gardening, small children playing outside, friends over for drinks in the afternoon, barbecuing dinner in the backyard........ simple family stuff.

Then there are the..........

Students:
Some playing football in the street, another couple of kids walking by on the sidewalk with chairs on their head. A few minutes ago I saw one fellow go by, pushing a computer chair with a huge mattress doing a balancing act on it, rolling down the middle of the street. While others have yet to arise, still recuperating from the wild party the nite before.

I don't complain about any of their shenanigans. Not my style, I've spent too much time in Toronto I guess. There you mind your own business.
When the noise level gets really out of hand at a very late hour, there is always someone who will call the authorities. There is a special hotline given out to all the locals, just for this.

My tolerance level is pretty high, you are only young once.
As far as I'm concerned, party on, but be respectful to other people while doing so.

How was your weekend??

PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL, SHHHHHHHH!!!!

I haven't signed on the dotted line of the contract yet.....but it's looking pretty good!!!

Last fall I gave my boss my resume, to be given to the Director of Dental Studies, at the local University. He has taught there for the last 15?? years and I thought he would know the best person to give it too. WRONG!!! Apparently he gave it to some old geiser, who gave it to some other old geiser. The bottom line was it never reached anyone, so I heard nothing.

Out of the blue last month I had a message from The Director on my answering machine, telling me she had just found my resume and would I still be interested. Hell Yes!! But I didn't quite put in into those exact words when I spoke to the department.

PROBLEM!!! The Director that left me the message, was one of her last offical duties. ( It was left on a Friday nite at 8:00 pm) She was retiring that day!!

Anyhoo, I called the department on Monday (found out all the above) and discussed the possibility of my being hired. But alas, it was too late, they had hired everyone they needed for the fall semester. I received the "declined" letter a week later from the New Director and it was so personal and kind, I called back to thank her. Also to tell her that I was still interested, should they need my services in the future.

Well........I had a phone call at work last thursday and apparently they need someone!!
Someone must have cancelled?? I have to take a day off work to do this, so I told her I would speak with my boss and get back to her.

I spoke with my boss that very day, starting off with that I had had a proposition for a job.
It wasn't intentional but I think that it was for the best. His eyes became guarded and his first words were, "from whom"? I said it was the university and it would be only one day a week.
I also told him that I thought it would be very good for me. (he knows all about my depression).

He immediately said that he thought it would be good for me too. (Have I ever mentioned that my boss is fantastic and I love him for it). It also didn't hurt that they want me for fridays and he teaches there two fridays himself, so it would be only two days that I would be missing in the office.

Well... I have a meeting with the director on September 5 and will be signing the contract hopefully on that day. I will be in the clinic with all the young potential dentists, and I can't tell you how excited I am!!!

Cross your fingers and toes for me guys!!

PROUD TO BE A CANADIAN !!

In the news for the past couple of days, a marriage has taken place in Nova Scotia, Canada. Not really anything special but for the fact that one of the participants is a well known political figure. [In our neck of the woods].

Nova Scotia MP Scott Brison made history of a sort when he became the first federal politician to marry his same-sex partner, Maxime St. Pierre.

The wedding ceremony took place Saturday near Brison's country home in Cheverie, N.S., a town of 200. He is the MP for the Nova Scotia riding of Kings-Hants.

Guests described the ceremony as joyful and emotional.

"It's something we need to celebrate and we must be proud that Canada is showing the way," Liberal Leader [of Canada] Stephane Dion said after the wedding.
"I came first to celebrate love and happiness between two friends of mine, but if by my presence it helps a bit to reinforce a newly recognized right and to encourage other countries to do the same, I am pleased."

Former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna saw significance in the wedding.
"Everyone involved felt like they were part of a history-making event," said McKenna. "It seemed like a validation of a long process."

Former prime ministers [similiar to your presidents] Joe Clark and Paul Martin -- whose government passed same-sex marriage legislation -- and former Liberal cabinet minister Bill Graham were among the other political notables in attendance.

Quotes:

1) Mr. Brison has every right to keep his wedding private, says Halifax gay activist Raymond Taavel.
Mr. Taavel said that over time, opponents of same-sex marriage are coming to see it’s not a big deal. “I think it’s just a matter of time that people relax about it and accept that it’s a fact of life."

2) Just up a two-lane winding road from where the wedding was taking place, Pat Eldridge of nearby Canning said she is happy for Brison .
"If they're in love and want to be together, then that's awesome," she said. "Love is hard to find."

3) Another resident who didn't want their name used said: "To each their own. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and own way of life."

4) Local restaurant owner Doris Hagman, who is a friend of Brison', said she was surprised at how quiet it was.
"I'm absolutely supporting him in anything I can do for him,' she said.

Brison is an MP with a national profile, having sought the leadership of both the Progressive Conservative and Liberal parties.

The executive director of Egale Canada, a national gay and lesbian advocacy group, said the wedding marks an important milestone for gay rights in Canada.................
"It's extremely significant," Helen Kennedy said Saturday in an interview from Toronto."The more that we see people like Scott getting married, then it normalizes it in the mainstream, and hopefully there will come a day when it won't be an anomaly, and we won't care and Scott and others can marry just like anybody else does."

This reminds me of the time, about 12-15 years ago when I was talking to my mom on the phone from Toronto. [I'm from Cape Breton remember, so that's where she was]. It was a saturday and she said she didn't have much time to talk as she was getting ready for a wedding.
"Oh, who's getting married," I asked?

"Well, it's not really a traditional wedding", she replied, and said she was late and had to go.
I found out later that it was our next door neighbour's neice that was getting married and she was marrying another female.

It brought back memories because my mom was such a "with it" person, that she didn't see anything wrong with anything, as long as you were safe and it made you happy.

I miss her more with each passing day!!!

I Love Greek Mythology Also.......

Once again I have [borrowed] this test from Lemuel at The Greedy Maelstrom .

What Great Fun....Thanks Lemuel!!

The Greek Mythology Personality Test written by Aleph_Nine on OkCupid Free Online Dating, home of the The Dating Persona Test.

My Score:

Aphrodite

66% Extroversion

86% Intuition

72% Emotiveness

52% Perceptiveness

Funloving, talkative, flamboyant, social... you are most like Aphrodite. You love parties, people, fashion, and sex. You're impulsive, inconcise, and you find crowds and parties to be energizing. You're optimistic, upbeat, and frequently irrational. You hate structure and routine, and you don't like know-it-alls. You're not really a "big picture" person, however, and might not always assess the consequences of your actions before taking them. You do have a very strong hedonistic streak, though, and this gives you a magnetic personality. You dislike people who think too much.

Like Dionysus, you classify your life as a search for meaning and, when things go wrong, you can become manipulative. To others, you can often seem directionless and impulsive, but you make sure that everything that you do is in line with your strong, internally motivated set of moral guidelines. Your funloving streak, although your greatest asset, can sometimes prevent you from realizing goals or staying on task. As accepting as you are of other people, you have a great need to be accepted yourself, and this can sometimes lead to an overdemonstration of affection and insincerity on your part.

90/10 Rule...............

Hey, no cutting in line!!!
By Mike Lindblom

Seattle Times staff reporter

Seattle Police officers Lyndell Jones and Jeff Rodgers carry out a unique mission: They're the only cops in the state who can bust drivers for simply cutting in line.

Seattle police traffic officer Lyndell Jones talks to a driver pulled over for cutting in line where traffic from the West Seattle Bridge merges onto northbound Interstate 5.

How many times have you been upset/pissed off at someone who has cut you off while driving or at a grocery checkout? Then there are the people who think nothing of standing in front of you during a movie [after it's begun], rude sales people, or just plain assholes who get a kick out of being obnoxious. I could go on and on..........

Last week I was at my psychiarist's and during our session, she told me about the 90/10 Rule.
The way she explained it, she implied that she came up with it.

She gave me homework. I was to keep a log of the number of times I allowed other people to upset me and then use the Rule to let it go.

Just for the heck of it, I googled it today and it looks like it wasn't her invention.

(Story) The 90/10 Rule

What I understand from the whole thing is; don't allow other people or situations to get to you. If you do, you are letting them drain your strength and energy.

You only allow them [be it family or friends too] 10% of you and no more!
The other 90% belongs to you and no one else!!!

It sounds interesting, so I am going to do my homework like a good little girl. :)

Ask and Ye Shall Receive

Butterfly Girl wanted to check out my favorite boots so......... here they are in all their glory. They are quite old so you can't see too much of the daisies, just the leaves.

I'm so exhausted , I can barely type. I've had my 6 year old neice with me for the past couple of days and it was a worldwind of fun and festivities. From morning til nite, we were on the go and when we were home, we had concerts and plays. I had a stage set up in the living room that would put any theatre to shame. :) We also had a food section set up for the entertainers.

She's leaving on Saturday........boohoo!!!! I'm going to miss her and her family very much but I am trying not to think about it. She's only a plane ride away right?

Have a great evening guys, I'm off to la la land!!

The Next Best Thing TY .....Enjoy!!

My daughter and I went to see X-Men (2000) and we were both very excited. We loved the comic book and to see it put on film, was going to be a fantastic adventure. The movie started and we settled in, hopefully, for an enjoyable ride.

When Wolverine made his first appearance on screen, we turned towards each other in amazement. We looked at each other and both said at the same time, "Duncan"!!
All our friends and family members that saw the movie, concurred.

So, I can't post a picture of Duncan TY but this is as close as anyone can get!!!
