DNA Art and "O Brother" Where Art Thou

I just found out about this art and think it's so cool. You can have it done of a loved one, be it human or animal.

You can find out about it here: http://www.dna11.com/

FINGERPRINT

Speaking of a loved one (helleva segue), Rosey and I walked to the grocery store a few days ago and I tied her leash right outside the store near where the parcel pick up place is. There is always a young guy there that puts groceries in the cars. I know most of them and always ask them to watch Rosey for me. ( I also give them a tip when I return ).

When I have a lot of groceries I call a taxi to take us home. Well, I came out of the store and as I am waiting for the cab, I pick up Rosey to hug her and give her a treat for being such a good girl.

Out of nowhere this woman comes up to me and proceeds to tell me the dangers of leaving a pet alone. How she noticed how friendly Rosey is and how so many people came up to her and were petting her while I was in the store. I tried to tell her that I had someone watching her but she was adament that I was being careless. Then she continued to tell me that the way I picked Rosey up was jeopardizing her health. She told me I should pick her up by her bum, that way I wouldn't pull her front legs out of their socket. (I pick Rosey up underneath her front legs by her ribcage).

I was telling my older sister about this woman later that evening and she asked me if I told her to "f**k" off. No, I said, because if I allowed myself to get angry at her interference it would just upset me.

What's more important? Her assholitis or my well being?

Me of course!!

My only query is .....why was she watching Rosey and then me for so long?

My Favorite Thing

I have had both, cats and now a dog, Rosey. The following exerpts are supposed to be humorous but I find them very accurate.

Being the pet lovers that you are I thought you would enjoy this.

9:40 am - A walk in the park! My favorite thing!

11:00 pm - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

* Excerpts from a Cat's Diary*

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They
dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or
some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations
perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my
strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an
attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I
had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly
demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending
comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed
in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could
hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due
to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use
it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this
again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The
dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be
more than willing to return. He is obviously mentally disabled. The bird has got to
be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am
certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective
custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...

Neighbours

It's so easy for a Canadian to point their finger at The United States and say bad, bad America. Especially when it comes to tragic events such as Virginia Tech. Those crazy americans and their [lack of] gun control laws. I agree completely that their laws about guns should be changed, but regarding the school massacres, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

For example:

Here is a list of similar situations that have taken place here.

Past Canadian school shootings

I want you to take note of the one in 1975. It was the first school massacre to take place.

There were three killed and thirteen injured in the 1975 Brampton school shooting.

A teenager in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, Michael Slobodian, started killing people at his high school because he was fed up with life and wanted to get back at 2 teachers for reprimanding him about skipping class.

Here is an recent update from one of the students that was there............

It's always there, lurking in the recesses of her mind.

Brenda Weitendorf might have repressed her memories of being pursued by a gunman trudging through the hallways of her high school on a shooting rampage. She's shoved deep into her psyche the terror of that moment, the shock she felt when a bullet fragment ricocheted off a wall and lodged in her left hip.

But to this day – 32 years later – it affects her.

Canada's Gun Laws .................When in trouble, blame the US :-#

It's a tragedy where or when these massacres take place. Do gun laws really make a difference?(In these situations). If someone is determined, they can and will get a gun. This is obvious because we still have them, even with gun control laws.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people at Virginia Tech and their families. This is another "why" question for which no one has an answer. One of our own, from Nova Scotia was murdered there, she was a French professor.

Keepsake

As I've mentioned before, my nephew Yurij (godson) is in a band. He plays the guitar and has just bought "the one" he has been saving for. ($700 or $800) He is a big fan of classic old rock bands. Def Leopard, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, etc. He's only fourteen!!

As I've also said, he and his family are moving away to Ontario in June. I will miss him and his sister(I'll talk about her at a later date) very much. Upon observation, I noticed that a lot of "rock stars" wear choker necklaces made out of leather or similar material.

I made this for him yesterday in the hopes that he will wear it and remember me when he does.
He is a teenager so who knows but he usually likes the things that I give him.

Family is very important and all we have of them when they are not around are memories, something given or kept; a memento.

I'll let you know how it went over.

PS
It's 15 degrees celsius here (59 Fahrenheit for you 'mericans) but that's downright balmy compared to last week.

Have a wonderful weekend and ya'll enjoy yourselves, ya hear me. :)

The Gentle Giant

My sister, my neice and nephew went to a cat show this past weekend. They are cat people and already have a beautiful chocolate brown persian. Well........ I was speaking with my neice yesterday and she told me they were getting a Maine Coon cat.
At first I didn't understand her, as she has a bit of a baby lisp, and I thought she said main toon.

I repeated main toon until she got exasperated with me and said, "say main", I said main, "now say coon" she said, I said coon. "Now say them together", she said.

It's pretty bad when a six year old has to break down the pronounciation for you.

It turns out it's still up in the air because the breeder might want to keep the two kittens for themselves. They'll find out Friday. These cats can get to be pretty big but they are beautiful
and highly intelligent. My sister has been interested in them for a while now. We'll see, the kids already have a name. Sahara.

She said the one at the cat show was twice the size of Rosey.

(I don't think it's going to be a lap cat)

AND, speaking of Rosey................

My baby is sick with a cold. It's all my fault too!! I have to keep my windows open because I can't stand stale air. I didn't realize that she couldn't deal with cold air because I don't have fur on me and I am able to. It might not be just that.

She is a sweet little girl who doesn't complain about anything. I was reading Urspo's blog today and he mentioned how *queer*(odd) people are about their pets. (He just had a scattering of ashes ceremony for his precious Kitty).

I think we are just sensitive and kind people that don't limit our love to those with two legs.

Things That Go Bump............

Lucky Friday The 13th

This picture does not show the actual egg sized lump on my head, so you will have to take my word for it.

This morning I was in the shower and decided to change my mesh loofah sponge for a new one. As I threw the old one over my shoulder, over the curtain rod, the rubber bathmat slid under my feet and I ended up falling backwards out of the tub, onto the towels on the floor and my head went slamming against the radiator. I didn't get knocked out but got the shit scared out of me. (not literally)

Luckly I had a Dr's appointment at noon and had him check it out. He said as long as I hadn't blacked out I should be okay. I was worried about a concussion.

I think the fact that I had three thick bath towels on the floor that I fell on saved my ass too.
What it really made me think about was that I have heard a number of people that have died from serious falls in the shower. Especially people who live alone and no one finds them until days later. Scarey!!

I'm okay, bruised but alive! The number thirteen has always been lucky for me and once again I embrace it.

I hope Friday the 13th has been good to you all also.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

PS The really weird thing too is that the shower curtain wasn't even torn as I fell out, it just went along for the ride. :0)

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Saturday Afternoon
We have had hardly any snow all winter and now when it's supposed to be spring...........
This is a picture of my street, notice the stop sign is lopsided. That is thanks to one of the many drunken students that live in the neighborhood. They enjoy (for some reason) destroying stuff. If it's not a glass bus shelter or people's plants and trees, they actually haul sign posts out of the ground that are cemented in.
This is Bob's house. He is a neighbor that had two dogs(miniature schnauzers), now he has one and she is sick with congestive heart failure. His other one Lobo died 4 months ago.
Bob is a lawyer, divorced and looking... :)
A few months ago I was out walking Rosey and he asked me if I liked wine and what I was doing on Saturday nite. I went into panic mode, ahhhhh....."I'm going to my sisters and I don't like wine" I said. (I wasn't and I like wine)
At Christmas time I was out walking Rosey and Bob was out with Abbey(his dog) and he asked me in to show me his tree and house. I felt sorry for him because Christmas can be such a lonely time so I went in but I did not stick around.
He has this walking buddy, a female who has a schnauzer also. Whenever I run into them, she has a face like she is sucking on a lemon when she sees me. She also never says hello to me. I want to say, "lady, you don't have to worry about me", but she is such a bitch I might just start being more attentive to Bob.
That wouldn't be fair to Bob though, but I might just.

Fish Fry

Fourth Station of The Cross

Jesus Meets His Blessed Mother

Good Friday

For those non catholics:

The Friday on which the church keeps the anniversary of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

As a modern tradition, many Catholics (and members of other Christian denominations as well) will only eat fish on Good Friday.

It's only a holiday now but used to be so much more. I went to a catholic school with nuns as teachers. The school was also right next door to the church, so we had to go to every mass and attend every funeral that took place.

To this day, everytime I smell incense, I see the priest shaking the thurible (a metal censer(container) suspended from chains, in which incense is burned during worship services), walking around someone's coffin.

Good Friday was my favorite mass. As a small child I was mesmerized by the priest's attire.
The beautiful muticolored cloaks he wore(vestments), the regal mitra simplex (fancy hat) and holding this big cross in his hands as he went to each wonderous picture. (The Stations of the Cross).

I still have a fixation with these pictures (not a fetish Spo) and would love to have them on my walls .
They are closing down quite a few churches these days so maybe I might get lucky.

Somehow "their loss my gain" doesn't seem appropiate". Will I go to hell? ( That ole' catholic guilt trip ).

Maybe Walking Is Better???

Road Rage.

I finished work early today to attend to some errands because tomorrow is Good Friday and everything is closed.

Well.........I was waiting at a bus stop and all of a sudden, there were two guys in heavy traffic, out of their cars, screaming obscenities at each other. They were about to come to blows but the horns of other drivers put them back in their vehicles. It might have been the weather too because it was pouring sleet and rain. We'll never know.

Then...... I was at the grocery store waiting for a taxi outside and there was this guy parked outside the store that was kicking his 4x4 on the passenger side door, shouting even worse language. I mean REALLY bad. Apparently he had locked his keys inside ..... but kicking his own vehicle??? He actually left indentations on the door.

A man waiting next to me said, "I think he needs some anger management".
Duh.....yeah!!!

My ex was like that. One time he bashed in the back of his jeep with something, I don't remember with what because I choose to forget that stuff. It takes a re-enactment for me to remember things, that's my mind protecting me.

It also makes me realize how lucky I am now, it's all in the past and I am safe now.

Enjoy your life!!

What's The Definition of Stupidity.......

Stupidity is the quality or condition of being stupid, or lacking intelligence, as opposed to being merely ignorant or uneducated.

Police: Man Arrives at DUI Hearing Drunk

YORK, Pa. (AP) - A man who arrived at court drunk for a drunken-driving hearing was again charged with driving under the influence, police said.

Paul H. Zeigler, 45, of Glen Rock, appeared at a preliminary hearing at the Shrewsbury district court on March 26 for a DUI charge from December.

Police said Zeigler appeared to be intoxicated at the hearing, according to police records.

After his court appearance, Zeigler failed a portable breath test for alcohol and was taken into custody for a blood test, police said.

The second test revealed that Zeigler's blood-alcohol level was twice the legal driving limit and he was charged with DUI, police said.
