Back To The Land of The Living

Whewwwwww, I had a really bad flu since saturday.
I thought I was a goner there for a while. :)

Today I woke up with a semblance of normalcy. This I have not felt since last saturday nite.
Let's just say I couldn't venture very far from the latrine.
I can only imagine how you must have felt Spo. Double or triplefold my illness.

The funny thing is, is that Rosey was sick too. Vomiting and not eating her food.
Do dogs/animals suffer from psychosymtomatic syndrome? Or maybe there is a more fitting terminology.

I had a brainstorm this a.m. when I was out with Rosey. I won't go into details but she loves children. She knocks them down (when they are on their knees petting her) and smothers them with kisses. I called the local children's hospital and asked about animal therapy. (volunteering) I'm waiting on their response but I think it would be wonderful. All the kids in the neighborhood love her and she has a darling personality.

Wish me luck with our venture.

Oh yeah, happy hump day!
(What an ambiguous phrase)

My Family

I was reading Spo's Blog today and it triggered a memory of an earlier post that I had written.
I think it is appropriate to re-post it again.

April 9
Education and Sharing Day

Sharing Day, hmmmmm, I don't like to share my things. My books especially. For some reason when I have people over they look at all my books (I have a "few") and feel that they should read more. They inevitably start perusing my bookshelves for one to borrow.

It's insane and I can't explain it, but my heart starts to go in palpitations. A lot of people treat books like they are only there for their enjoyment, to be used and then abandoned.
My books are like my family, near and dear to me. It would be like lending out your mother or sister, not knowing what condition they would be in when, or if they were returned .

I now have a special shelf for these occasions, books I have never read (nor have any interest in doing so). I gently lead my guests in their direction and rave how wonderful they are. I have never got one of those books back, nor do I care. My family is safe.

Now, as for picking favorites........like my profile says, "I love ALL my books". :)

TCB (Taking Care of Business)

These are some presents my sister brought me back from her vacation. Can you guess where they were?? HaHa

I collect (I hate that term but....) bears. Click on the image to enlarge it and check out his hair and sideburns. He also sings Burnin' Love.

This was the first time they were to Vegas and decided to do it in style. They are not gamblers so they took in some shows and went to some great restaurants. Hell, their tab for dinner at one place was $690.00. The other dinners were only?? $350.00 or $400.00. Must be nice!

No, they are not heavy drinkers. :)

They also took a helicopter ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with champagne cocktails.
They brought back rocks from the site for their son. Cool!

PS They both have high end occupations and work very hard. This was their way of treating themselves and not worrying about the cost of anything. Good for them!!

Trivia

Elvis Presley became a fan of B.T.O. He adopted the motto "takin care of business in a flash" as an homage to this song. He also designed (or had designed for him) a logo with the letters TCB and a lightning bolt for necklaces worn by his entourage.

Long Week's Journey..........

This past week I have spent at my sister's home , looking after my six year old neice and my fourteen year old nephew. It was great to be with them as they are beautiful children, but I am sooooooo tired. (I just returned home). Their parents were away on a vacation. The six year old runs on rechargeable eveready batteries that she keeps charged all the time!!

I will post some memorable moments later but right now all I want to do is sleep.
I have had my neice and Rosey in my bed for six nights now and look forward to some "alone" time tonite. :)

In the meantime here are some photos as promised.

My sister, myself, and Sophia. (At her birthday party)

If that isn't enough, here is me noshing on a cheesy.

I did need to keep up my strength for the party.
Ha Ha

PS THAT IS A COUPLE OF PILLOWS IN MY PANTS!!

Easy? .......I Don't Think So!

My neice got an Easy Bake oven for Xmas. What little girl didn't want one?

Well, the oven cost under fifty dollars, but to buy the mixes.................let's just say it's downright highway robbery. They cost around $8-$14, depending if you get the cookie mix or the cake with the frosting. AND that's just for ONE mix.

Taking matters into my own hands, I figured there must be something I could do about this.
You can pirate music and videos from the internet, why not easy bake oven recipes?

I put on my gumshoes and to my delight I found a number of sites that offered exactly what I was looking for.

So today I am making a cookbook for my little six year old neice. I have ten recipes printed on beautiful sheets of paper (pink kitties and hearts all around the border). She loves cats and pink, and Valentine's Day is coming up. Tomorrow I will do the cover and back page as we have a great graphic design program at work.
Then I will bind it with pink ribbons. I hope she will like it, I do. :)

Her Easy Bake Oven is not exactly as illustrated. :)

Tonight I am going to watch Guys and Dolls. I'm looking forward to it as I love old black and white movies. I looked it up on IMDb to get a little briefing and as I also love goofs..............

Goofs for Guys and Dolls (1955)

Continuity: Sky Masterson's handwriting on the back of the Bible verse card changes between shots.
Continuity: When Nathan and Adelaide are in the restaurant, Adelaide sneezes and raises her hand to her nose. In the next shot, she is holding a handkerchief in her hand which wasn't there before.
Continuity: While Sky and Nathan are talking in the restaurant and Nathan is trying to get Sky to eat some cheese cake, a man walking in the street outside disappears and a woman walks past in his place.

Tomorrow's Monday.........Put on a smile and get it over with. :)

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World

I haven't posted anything really the past few days because my mind has not been sound.
I comment on other blogs but that's easy.

Princess (my daughter), love of my life, called me Tuesday and told me a horrific story of what had happened to her that day. She was crossing a street (in a crosswalk) and a woman in her car came barreling thru making a right turn. She picked Princess up and drove six feet with her on the hood of the car before stopping. When she did stop, Princess was thrown off the hood into a snowbank.

My daughter lay there for five minutes before the woman got out of the car. (She obviously was considering just taking off). When she did get out of the car, she came over to Princess and said,
" you're okay right, you can get up". Then she got back in her car and took off.

My daughter is bruised but okay, I realize that but it shook me up real bad.
She's so far away and I worry.

What's wrong with people??
No she didn't get a plate number, she's lying in a snowbank in shock. Witnesses, none came forward.

Has the world become so self absorbed that people have lost their sense of decency and respect for their fellow human beings?

That freakin scares me more than global warming.

Clowning Around

Being A Clown Ain't Easy

My neice Sophia had her 6th birthday party today. My sister rented two clown outfits, one for her and one for me. Then we had to paint our faces.
I am exhausted!! The party was 3-5 pm, but it feels like it was ten hours instead of two. I'll post some pictures later when my brother-in-law sends them to me.
Ten, 5 & 6 year olds were the guests and they were a tough crowd.

There is also a video and the funniest part is when my sister plays the guitar and sings the song, Down By The Bay. There's a part where she stops and each kid has to make up a line in the song that rhymes. One kid said something about a pig and his butt???
Anyway, while my sister is doing her thing, I am behind her dancing, doing a Lucille Ball routine. Remember when she was a clown?

What I wouldn't do for love.( my neice)

That was my day. How was yours?

On A Much Lighter Note......

Last nite I was reading a fellow blogger's post about same sex couples adopting children.
I personally think this is wonderful if they want to. Same goes for heterosexual couples.
Some couples opt for animals, (eg. dog) instead . I feel it is my responsibility to make you aware of some things before you make either life changing decisions. For example:

Should I Have A Kid??

Or........... Should I Get A Dog??

It's a tough decision, either way. :)

Have A Great TGIF Tomorrow!!
