Why I Have A Blog?
First of all, I don't have any close friends here with whom I can confide in. I haven't made any. Not that I haven't been asked to partake in outings or parties, quite the contrary. But I don't feel comfortable to do so yet. After three and a half years you would think so, but.......there's something holding me back. That doesn't mean that I'm not lonely. Soooooo, one evening I was online and I happened upon a blog. He was gay but a bit grumpy. (but very interesting) Thru him I found another blog, he was gay and very funny. Thru him I found another blogger, gay, funny, interesting and the rest is history. I got my own blog!!
The great thing for me was that these men were gay and fantastic people, that I would love to have as friends. You see, I have never been on a chat line because to me, that is people looking for more than just friends. Men will be men, my dears. No matter what anyone says, if you chat online or go to straight men's blogs, they will inevitably want .........more that just chatting. I don't know this for a fact, I'm just speaking from my experience with straight men in general.
As a result, I have found the most gracious hospitality of people, that I am proud to call my friends.
Including a wonderful female that I would never have known if not for blogging.
They are there when I feel like ranting or when I am just talking about something that delighted me in my daily routine.
I thank you all for keeping me entertained with all your daily events, educating posts, personal experiences, and making my life richer than it is.
Hugs and Kisses To You All!!!!!!!

Sometimes, Things Can Come Back And Bite You In The Ass
Part 1
There is a parking spot in back of our building that belongs to our office but thru the trickle of employee turnovers, another employee in another office muckled on to it with squatters rights. She thought! When anyone else parked there she was vicious, all four feet nothing of her. She held on to that spot with her life. She said the owner (my boss and owner of the building) said she could have it. I spoke with him about it and he said he did no such thing. He doesn't like confrontations so he didn't do anything about it.
Part II
I have had a fan in my operatory for the past two years. I found it in the basement and thought it belonged to us. My boss offered to get me an air-conditioner but I declined because the fan was suffice. WELL.........this week I went into work and my fan was GONE!!!! The other office just took it without saying a word to me. Let me just state for the record that the female dentist in that office is a bitch and she has her staff trained to be the same. I really don't know who the fan belonged to but it was the way they dealt with it that pissed me off.
Part III
I calmed myself down, went next door(to their office) exaggerated the way I was looking around(so they would get the picture) and said I would like to speak with the hygienist. (The one in MY parking spot). She immediately came over to see me and asked what was up.
I sweetly told her that I was car shopping and that I was giving her notice 'til the end of the week, that she could no longer park there. I was very nice about it. She rattled on about how she inherited it but I said that was irrelevant. Not a happy camper!
Part IV
My boss bought me the most beautiful fan (it even has a remote) that same evening, and left it outside my operatory with a big bow on it. For me to find the next morning. Sweet is his middle name!
He also told me that the hygienist in question, had called him at home the previous nite and offered to pay rent for the parking spot. What a jerk huh? "I'd love to rent you a spot", he said, "but I don't have one available".
How cool is that? Pardon the pun. (fan and all).
If they weren't such assholes about the fan, I probably wouldn't have said anything, hence my title for this post.

You're Only Six Once!!!!
Then we were off to the local Kermesse Fun fair that takes place once a year to raise funds for the local children's hospital. What a blast!
They had so many things to do, face painting and fun games to play with great prizes. She won a loot and had a ball. Her favorite was this one. You put on a vest(much to big for her) attached to a bungy cord and see how far you can get(run) before the bungy cord pulls you back.
What a hoot to watch her!
She has a cat painted on her face.
Then when we got home her aunt (my older sister) took us to lunch at a nice restaurant. She misbehaved a bit, but I think that was because my sister and I were talking and she got bored.
Later we went out to get a movie to watch that evening. We both fell asleep in the middle of it. :) Fat Albert.
Sunday we had chocolate and minature marshmallows pancakes for breakfast. With bacon of course, she loves crispy bacon. Then we went out and found a carwash to wash her daddies car. That took a while.
Then we had a picnic (we picked up McDonalds on our way home) outside on the deck. They don't have their patio furniture out yet, so we set it up on the upper level and sat on the steps. Correction, I sat on the steps, Sophia sat on the plastic tablecloth. Later on she remarked how hot it was, and I said, yes it is darling. She had her bathing suit on.
Then I cracked up laughing, SHE was sitting on plastic, no wonder she was hot!!
I put some napkins under her bum and it was better.
Then later I mentioned she had to wipe her mouth with one of them.
I was joking but she didn't know that.
I can't she said, "I farted on it".
I cracked up again, she's at that age where she knows she's supposed to say "poofed" or "tooted", but she gets a kick out of the F(arted) word.
I talked to her last nite and she said she misses me soooo much. She said whenever she walks by my empty bedroom she cries.
God love her, she is so sincere.
That's what being six is all about, and it only happens once!

Home Sweet Home
She considers me her personal play toy!
She wants to sleep with me every nite and I don't have the heart to deny her that. Last nite I had her, the two cats, and Rosey in my bed. I was tired and when I was reading her a bedtime story, she was interacting with all the animals, it was tooooo much. I told her she was going to have to go to her own bed.
Well........she started to cry and I told her she had to be a good girl then. Thru all the sobbing, she wailed, "I'm doing the best that I can". She'd make a good politican.
When I picked her up at school on Wednesday she asked me if her parents were still home. No, I said, they're gone. YEAH, she said.
Even when I go to the bathroom, I have the three animals and Sophia in there with me. No rest for the wicked.
I made a deal with her tonite, so that I could have some alone time (hence my being able to blog). Tomorrow is a big day, tons of activities for us to do.
That being said, it is actually a pleasure to be online and catch up with my favororite bloggers.
Thanks A Million

My Sweeties
I received this e-mail yesterday from Maddie ............
Subject: I Love You
Hi Aunt Maggie How are you doing?I am fine.I hope Rosie is doing good.Whats new with you?Irene is getting Big! And she still bites and it hurts alot! I hope you like these pictures!
(See photos Above )
Irene is a puppy that they got in March. Irene is also the name of their grandmother that died in December/06. Three months earlier! At first I was taken aback, not knowing what to make of the name calling.
After I thought about it for awhile, I realized that it was very appropriate. Their grandmother(mother's mom) was a such a kind and gentle soul she would have loved it. The twins are also sensitive and loving, so I'm sure they had their own logic for the honour they bestowed upon the puppy.
Ya gotta love kids, they have their own way of looking at the world........ thru innocent eyes.
Have A Groovy day!!

Thinking of You All
Heather over at , Fly With Me, honoured me with this award and I would like to take the time to respond with my own. I have very few and selected bloggers that I choose to share my time with, simply because that's just the way I am. I am the same way with friends, if I have too many, I can't give as much of myself as I would like.
That being said, I am going beyond the five allotted and they are in random order.

Bunny Lynn Boofay
Glamour Goddess of The Year
And what a Glamorous Gal she is! Whenever I read about her escapades, be it at the trailer park or Walmart, I just smile and life doesn't seem so bad. She is a genuine true treasure in every sense of the word. I love you Bunny and please never stop entertaining us.
Huggs, etc.

Fly With Me
If there ever was a Supermom, this is your girl. She runs a tight ship and makes sure it sails!
She is so honest in her writing, I sometimes think, "is she for real". She's real alright and is definitely someone I would be honored to have as a friend. She's also very funny and you have to be on your toes to get where she is coming from. Smart Woman.
Keep on rockin' us in the real world with your wonderful posts!
Now here's a guy that makes us believe that anything is possible. He is always positive and postive things happen to him. Good friends, jobs, travel, selling and buying homes, come as natural to him as breathing. Good Karma follows him because he allows it too. We can learn a lot from him. Sometimes good things do happen to good people. Cheers Steve!
Ahhhhh, TigerYogi. What would we do without him? He keeps me constantly entertained with his wit and wonderful way with words. He can take an ordinary day and spin it into a delicious television soap opera. My favorite (and most everyone) are his tales off "Mumsy"and his dysfunctional in-laws. I think you have a "pilot" for a sitcom there TY. We Love You. (We really do!)

Farewell To Falwell
Devil Incarnate
Well............this story is not an urban legend, it's a nightmare that's real. I still haven't come to terms with the bastard that did it. Lock him up and throw away the key is my first thought but better yet, just let good ole' Texas take care of him. I hope he rots in jail.

The child suffered burns on the left side of her face and to her left hand, police said.
Galveston County District Attorney Kurt Sistrunk said he had seen photographs of the child's injuries. "They clearly met the definition of serious bodily injury," he said.
Police have said the mother and grandmother remain under investigation.

Writer's Block

I LOVE OSCAR!!!!
~ Oscar Wilde on Writer's Block
“Okay, so they get in the ship... and...”
The Writer's Block Act of 1897 was a bill passed by the senate that decreed all writers who have writer's block will...(follow up on this)
...........here come the suck police!
"Sir, did you write this?"
"Why yes I did!"
"Well it sucks, you're going to jail!"
"Oh no!"
Yeah, like I'm a writer.
There's no excuse for not writing every day, but mine is, I really don't have anything interesting to say. Some people have the knack to make their ordinary day seem quite interesting to read, I don't have that knack. :(
For example:
I had a fairly good day, went to work, went shopping, came home, took Rosey for a walk, made chili for supper. Ahhhhh! There's something I can tell you about, the secret to chili.
I was told this by a very cute Scot (a patient) a few years ago. Not only was he adorable but the accent, ohhhh, the accent would make you want to eat whatever he made. BUT, the secret to it is CHOCOLATE!! How great is that!
I miss my little Scot, he used to tell me the weirdest things when he was under nitrous oxide. Sometimes he would come in for his appointment in the morning and not been home from the nite before. Under the influence, he'd start telling me about his escapades from the nite before.
We'd always have a hug (PLATONIC LOVE), after his appointment. He was a sweetie and I do miss him.
Wow, I got sidetracked there for a minute, sorry! :)
Have A Great Weekend!!

DNA Art and "O Brother" Where Art Thou
You can find out about it here: http://www.dna11.com/

DNA

FINGERPRINT
Speaking of a loved one (helleva segue), Rosey and I walked to the grocery store a few days ago and I tied her leash right outside the store near where the parcel pick up place is. There is always a young guy there that puts groceries in the cars. I know most of them and always ask them to watch Rosey for me. ( I also give them a tip when I return ).
When I have a lot of groceries I call a taxi to take us home. Well, I came out of the store and as I am waiting for the cab, I pick up Rosey to hug her and give her a treat for being such a good girl.
Out of nowhere this woman comes up to me and proceeds to tell me the dangers of leaving a pet alone. How she noticed how friendly Rosey is and how so many people came up to her and were petting her while I was in the store. I tried to tell her that I had someone watching her but she was adament that I was being careless. Then she continued to tell me that the way I picked Rosey up was jeopardizing her health. She told me I should pick her up by her bum, that way I wouldn't pull her front legs out of their socket. (I pick Rosey up underneath her front legs by her ribcage).
I was telling my older sister about this woman later that evening and she asked me if I told her to "f**k" off. No, I said, because if I allowed myself to get angry at her interference it would just upset me.
What's more important? Her assholitis or my well being?
Me of course!!
My only query is .....why was she watching Rosey and then me for so long?

* Excerpts from a Cat's Diary*
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They
dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or
some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations
perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my
strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an
attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I
had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly
demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending
comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed
in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could
hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due
to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use
it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this
again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The
dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be
more than willing to return. He is obviously mentally disabled. The bird has got to
be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am
certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective
custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...

Neighbours
For example:
Here is a list of similar situations that have taken place here.
Past Canadian school shootings
I want you to take note of the one in 1975. It was the first school massacre to take place.
There were three killed and thirteen injured in the 1975 Brampton school shooting.
A teenager in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, Michael Slobodian, started killing people at his high school because he was fed up with life and wanted to get back at 2 teachers for reprimanding him about skipping class.
Here is an recent update from one of the students that was there............
It's always there, lurking in the recesses of her mind.
Brenda Weitendorf might have repressed her memories of being pursued by a gunman trudging through the hallways of her high school on a shooting rampage. She's shoved deep into her psyche the terror of that moment, the shock she felt when a bullet fragment ricocheted off a wall and lodged in her left hip.
But to this day – 32 years later – it affects her.
Canada's Gun Laws .................When in trouble, blame the US :-#
It's a tragedy where or when these massacres take place. Do gun laws really make a difference?(In these situations). If someone is determined, they can and will get a gun. This is obvious because we still have them, even with gun control laws.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people at Virginia Tech and their families. This is another "why" question for which no one has an answer. One of our own, from Nova Scotia was murdered there, she was a French professor.

Keepsake
As I've also said, he and his family are moving away to Ontario in June. I will miss him and his sister(I'll talk about her at a later date) very much. Upon observation, I noticed that a lot of "rock stars" wear choker necklaces made out of leather or similar material.
I made this for him yesterday in the hopes that he will wear it and remember me when he does.
He is a teenager so who knows but he usually likes the things that I give him.
Family is very important and all we have of them when they are not around are memories, something given or kept; a memento.
I'll let you know how it went over.
PS
It's 15 degrees celsius here (59 Fahrenheit for you 'mericans) but that's downright balmy compared to last week.
Have a wonderful weekend and ya'll enjoy yourselves, ya hear me. :)

The Gentle Giant
At first I didn't understand her, as she has a bit of a baby lisp, and I thought she said main toon.
I repeated main toon until she got exasperated with me and said, "say main", I said main, "now say coon" she said, I said coon. "Now say them together", she said.
It's pretty bad when a six year old has to break down the pronounciation for you.
It turns out it's still up in the air because the breeder might want to keep the two kittens for themselves. They'll find out Friday. These cats can get to be pretty big but they are beautiful
and highly intelligent. My sister has been interested in them for a while now. We'll see, the kids already have a name. Sahara.
She said the one at the cat show was twice the size of Rosey.

(I don't think it's going to be a lap cat)
AND, speaking of Rosey................

My baby is sick with a cold. It's all my fault too!! I have to keep my windows open because I can't stand stale air. I didn't realize that she couldn't deal with cold air because I don't have fur on me and I am able to. It might not be just that.
She is a sweet little girl who doesn't complain about anything. I was reading Urspo's blog today and he mentioned how *queer*(odd) people are about their pets. (He just had a scattering of ashes ceremony for his precious Kitty).
I think we are just sensitive and kind people that don't limit our love to those with two legs.

Things That Go Bump............
Lucky Friday The 13th
This picture does not show the actual egg sized lump on my head, so you will have to take my word for it.
This morning I was in the shower and decided to change my mesh loofah sponge for a new one. As I threw the old one over my shoulder, over the curtain rod, the rubber bathmat slid under my feet and I ended up falling backwards out of the tub, onto the towels on the floor and my head went slamming against the radiator. I didn't get knocked out but got the shit scared out of me. (not literally)
Luckly I had a Dr's appointment at noon and had him check it out. He said as long as I hadn't blacked out I should be okay. I was worried about a concussion.
I think the fact that I had three thick bath towels on the floor that I fell on saved my ass too.
What it really made me think about was that I have heard a number of people that have died from serious falls in the shower. Especially people who live alone and no one finds them until days later. Scarey!!
I'm okay, bruised but alive! The number thirteen has always been lucky for me and once again I embrace it.
I hope Friday the 13th has been good to you all also.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
PS The really weird thing too is that the shower curtain wasn't even torn as I fell out, it just went along for the ride. :0)

Fish Fry
Fourth Station of The Cross
Jesus Meets His Blessed Mother
Good Friday
For those non catholics:
The Friday on which the church keeps the anniversary of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
As a modern tradition, many Catholics (and members of other Christian denominations as well) will only eat fish on Good Friday.
It's only a holiday now but used to be so much more. I went to a catholic school with nuns as teachers. The school was also right next door to the church, so we had to go to every mass and attend every funeral that took place.
To this day, everytime I smell incense, I see the priest shaking the thurible (a metal censer(container) suspended from chains, in which incense is burned during worship services), walking around someone's coffin.
Good Friday was my favorite mass. As a small child I was mesmerized by the priest's attire.
The beautiful muticolored cloaks he wore(vestments), the regal mitra simplex (fancy hat) and holding this big cross in his hands as he went to each wonderous picture. (The Stations of the Cross).
I still have a fixation with these pictures (not a fetish Spo) and would love to have them on my walls .
They are closing down quite a few churches these days so maybe I might get lucky.
Somehow "their loss my gain" doesn't seem appropiate". Will I go to hell? ( That ole' catholic guilt trip ).

Maybe Walking Is Better???
I finished work early today to attend to some errands because tomorrow is Good Friday and everything is closed.
Well.........I was waiting at a bus stop and all of a sudden, there were two guys in heavy traffic, out of their cars, screaming obscenities at each other. They were about to come to blows but the horns of other drivers put them back in their vehicles. It might have been the weather too because it was pouring sleet and rain. We'll never know.
Then...... I was at the grocery store waiting for a taxi outside and there was this guy parked outside the store that was kicking his 4x4 on the passenger side door, shouting even worse language. I mean REALLY bad. Apparently he had locked his keys inside ..... but kicking his own vehicle??? He actually left indentations on the door.
A man waiting next to me said, "I think he needs some anger management".
Duh.....yeah!!!
My ex was like that. One time he bashed in the back of his jeep with something, I don't remember with what because I choose to forget that stuff. It takes a re-enactment for me to remember things, that's my mind protecting me.
It also makes me realize how lucky I am now, it's all in the past and I am safe now.
Enjoy your life!!

What's The Definition of Stupidity.......
Stupidity is the quality or condition of being stupid, or lacking intelligence, as opposed to being merely ignorant or uneducated.
Police: Man Arrives at DUI Hearing Drunk
YORK, Pa. (AP) - A man who arrived at court drunk for a drunken-driving hearing was again charged with driving under the influence, police said.
Paul H. Zeigler, 45, of Glen Rock, appeared at a preliminary hearing at the Shrewsbury district court on March 26 for a DUI charge from December.
Police said Zeigler appeared to be intoxicated at the hearing, according to police records.
After his court appearance, Zeigler failed a portable breath test for alcohol and was taken into custody for a blood test, police said.
The second test revealed that Zeigler's blood-alcohol level was twice the legal driving limit and he was charged with DUI, police said.

Ranting.........Life Goes On
I just talked to my younger sister and she laid some pretty heavy stuff on me. She and her family are moving to Southwestern Ontario the end of June. She has received a job transfer with her bank and while it is a wonderful opportunity for her to advance..........it breaks my heart.
I will miss my nephew(godson) and neice so very much, that's all I can think about. She already makes a six figure salary, what more can she want? I understand that it is a huge promotion but what about life? Her husband is a great guy who has a great job and he is very flexable when it comes to moving. (He's a software engineer and companies actually seek him out).
She was whispering to me on the phone as they haven't told their son yet. He's fourteen, does excellent in school, plays in a hockey league, has his own band (he plays the guitar). He just bought the guitar of his dreams that he has been saving for.
I feel so bad for him when he hears the news. His two best friends live on his street, he's not going to take it well. Neither am I.
I don't understand. They have a beautiful home, great neighborhood , they definitely don't have money problems, a lot of people would love to have what they have.
I know I'm just being selfish, but isn't there more to life than career opportunities? When is enough, enough?
Last christmas, I was teasing my sister because my brother-in-law gave her books of poetry and beautiful scented candles. (I found out later that all she reads are books involving business).
He gave her tons of other stuff but I was surprised at these because he's not a mushy kind of guy. Now I know why. She's driven and where she's going.............
Southwestern Ontario for now, and I will just have to accept it.

When You're Smiling..........
This little mug can get a smile out of just about anyone. When we are out walking, people smile like they can't control themselves. Isn't that nice? To be able to make people smile. She makes me laugh alot more than I did before I got her.
How about posting pictures of your own pets? Is there a Pet Appreciation Day? If there isn't, there should be.
And if that didn't make you smile, how about this...................

Trivia Again............
Mar 27 1866Patent for a urinal is granted to Andrew Rankin.
A urinal is a specialized toilet designed to be used only for urination.
(Not for us women folks) :(
A city famous for its street urinals is Paris, France. Until the 1990s, street urinals were a common sight in the city, and in the 1930s more than 1200 were in service. Parisians referred to them as vespasiennes, the name being derived from that of the Roman Emperor Vespasian, who imposed a tax on urine.(Good luck figuring that one out).
Beginning in the 1990s, the vespasiennes (renowned for their smell and lack of hygiene) were gradually replaced by the far superior Sansettes. Today only one vespasienne remains in the city ( photo above, on the boulevard Arago), and it is still regularly used. They still exist in other French cities, and in other countries.
Today I was reading about my friend Steve's predicament on Steveswhirlyworld. He mentioned that he was tired during a business meeting and needed a nap.

One Man's Junk is Another Man's Treasure
Old newsreels, I can't get enough off!
I don't know why but they somehow feel comforting to me. Like wrapping a warm cosy blanket around myself.
There is this really cool store downtown that sells new *retro* stuff. Games and toys from the 40's and 50's. Also candy! There is this one item that I want....it's a record player that looks like an old radio from the forties, but it has a CD player too.
Today I was out and about and this store had a sale, "All Items $1". (Selected Ones)
These DVD'S are all 90 minutes long. I have never seen any of them before except maybe Dick Tracey?? Call me crazy but I am very excited with my *find*.

Who Came First....The Chicken or The Egg??
The act or habit of procrastinating, or putting off to a future time; delay; dilatoriness.
Or the one that I like best......
Procrastination is the thief of time.
Now what is not mentioned in the definition, is the degrees of it.......
To procrastinate about cleaning your closet, your fridge, or windows is one thing.....
To procrastinate against doing some really difficult personal things is another... .
This actually leads to stress, or worst case scenario, depression..
Spo says, "The more out of control you feel; the more you perceive stress". Absolutely true!
Because of his post, I took matters in hand and took care of two out of three situations that were causing me a great deal of grief. I am working on the third, thanks to him.
NOW, my query is..... was I depressed because I was procrastinating or was I procrastinating because of my depression?
The Answer To My Title.........
A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is leaning against the headboard smoking a cigarette, with a satisfied smile on its face.
The egg, looking a bit pissed off, grabs the sheet, rolls over, and says, "Well, I guess we finally answered THAT question.
If anyone needs it explained - read it a second time..

Who Cut The Cheese?
Anyhoo, I especially love swiss cheese. The varieties offered at the cheese counter didn't have any holes in them. I asked the $8/hr attendent where I could find it. He turned his nose up at me and said that the jarlsberg had holes, maybe I would like that.
No, I politely responded, I find that a bit strong. (I love jarlsberg too but was not going to let HIM know that!)
I bought an extra creamy french brie cheese instead. Yummy!
They also have a Dragon's Breath Blue Cheese made here locally that is to die for!
I'm cheesey and I love cheese, what can I say?
FYI
Q: WHAT MAKES THE HOLES IN SWISS CHEESE?
A: Cultures added to milk produce a gas during the aging process. This gas is carbon dioxide, which forms the holes

Sounds of Silence.....
I think we went thru three microwaves in one month. He literally swept them off the counter in one of his rages. He broke marble coffee tables, pictures, cell phones, clocks, basically whatever he got his hands on at the moment. Never the television though, which led me to believe there was some thought process going on. (He liked his television)
His yelling and ranting was the worst. It didn't matter what time of day or night it was.
After I left, the slightest noise would make me jump. I think, I'm not psychologist, that I suffered from post traumatic stress disorder. I have never had anyone treat me for it, so I have just muddled along as best as I could.
I'm not jumpy anymore, I'm not as afraid as I used to be.
Tonite I was out walking Rosey and when we came home, I realized the sweetest sound.

Fool Me Once...Shame On You
Fool Me Twice.......Shame On Me
There's this *homeless lady* that sits on a corner of a very popular street here. She's somewhere between late fifties and early sixties. That in my mind, put her somewhere in the middle of too old to work and too young for a pension.
Because of this scenario (in my mind), it put her at a disadvantage for proper government assistance. She carried a sign (god bless, yadda, yadda), she doesn't bother anyone and is always polite.
I gave her five dollars whenever I saw her. I also used to go the the grocery and get her things she needed written on her sign. (food)
She had yarn on her sign one day, so I went home and in the pouring rain I brought her extra yarn and needles I had at home. Thinking that this would be good therapy for someone depressed and lonely.
Well, one day I was riding the bus and I overheard a woman telling someone else that *she*(homeless woman) lived in a seniors building where the rent was very cheap. That changed my opinion somewhat for awhile and after that I would just talk to her and listen to her ailments and give her encouragement.
Today I was out and about and there she was again. As I was in my gourmet deli I was feeling sorry for her and bought her a hot chocolate(she loves them) and also some fresh strawberries. I went out on the street and thought....what good are strawberries without cream? I went to another store and bought cream.
I came across the street to give her my gifts and she said to me, " that's not hot chocolate is it"?
I said with a smile, "yes it is". She said where did you buy it? I said at the gourmet store. I can't drink that, I can only drink Tim Horton's. Besides she said, someone has gone to get me a camomile tea with lemon.
There was this poor soul beside her shaking with the cold (not a tooth in his head) and I asked him if he would like it. I'd LOVE it, he said.
As for the strawberries and cream.............
Let's just say they didn't go to waste.

That's What Friends Are For.........
Now....let's see. What can I talk about today. Oh yes, Princess is back with the Brit. She broke up with him before Xmas but still wanted him as a friend. Welllll......two weeks ago the Brit started dating someone else, Princess was furious. I said honey, he had to move on, you definitely made him aware you were not interested emotionally. I don't care, she said, he didn't pine for me long enough. How long should he have pined, I asked. Forever, she said!!
Suffice to say, the princess and the brit are back together. It took the idea of losing him to wake the princess up.
BTW She also told him that it was like dating her mother after she looked in his fridge. (She felt entitled after all this I guess).
It had nothing but condiments and swiss cheese in it. He also loves Blue Cheese like myself. Princess told him she didn't know there was any other kind of salad dressing until she was fourteen.
BBTW She also told him that I was not only her mom but her best friend. ( She doesn't offer up that info easily).

My American Cousin
There's a movie, My American Cousin and it always brings back memories. Sad mostly, not because of the times my cousin and I spent together but what happened to her. Every year around this time I get nostalgic.
This is my post from last year....
Murder....... I'm remembering my cousin now.
Every summer my uncle and his family used to visit us from Massachusetts. Holly, my cousin was 1 year younger than me and we were inseparable . She was quite beautiful and when we were always told we looked alike, it was a real compliment.
Years went by and as we got older, she didn't come with the family, as she did her own thing at home, as teenagers do.
It is 13 years now that Holly is dead.
She went missing one fall and it wasn't until the following spring that her body was found because they has a great deal of rain that year and she was washed up from her burial site.
HIS favorite fishing hole. The man who murdered Holly was not caught until a few years later when he did a few more in Florida. He is now on death row.
Capital Punishment??? It doesn't bring back our loved ones does it. An eye for an eye, no. But maybe it saves someone elses loved ones.

GLAMOUR GALS
Just in case you wuz a thinkin I was joshin ya, here is a pictur of my own lil glamour pooch in all her faux leopard atire. You mite notice that it is a tad big on her but that is becuz my sweet lil sis who gave it to her, was a bit off on her guesstimating.
I had it fixed up so that it fits her real good now.

My lil sis is quite the glamour gal herself. She has the plushes faux leopard hat and fancy scarf to match that you ever did see. It's a gift to the gals in my family. To be glamorous I mean.
Snippets of Life
This week a patient(sort of) mailed in an article to the office that she had copied from a toronto rag . It was regarding the dangers of fluoride. It made wild accusations of people dying, especially where one child died from an in office treatment. It went on and on, yada yada yada.
There was no scientific backup for the writer's article just their opinion.
I blame this as "a slow news day".
Here's the kicker........the patient is edentulous, aka....... not a tooth in her head!!
Memory Lane
Someone sent me an e-mail that brought back a memory of years ago when I was a mere child, five maybe?
It was a sunday afternoon and we had company as we usually did in those days. I was playing with my brothers and somehow scraped my leg. I went into the bathroom and brought out a box of bandages to my mom so she could put one on my leg. She was in the living room entertaining our guests and when I came in, there was a sudden silence, then bursts of laughter. My mother took me and the box of "bandages" into the bathroom. I don't remember exactly what happened after that but found out years later why all the fuss.
It was a "box of kotex".
My mother had told me that they were bandages when I had asked her prior to my childhood "faux pas".

Back To The Land of The Living
I thought I was a goner there for a while. :)
Today I woke up with a semblance of normalcy. This I have not felt since last saturday nite.
Let's just say I couldn't venture very far from the latrine.
I can only imagine how you must have felt Spo. Double or triplefold my illness.
The funny thing is, is that Rosey was sick too. Vomiting and not eating her food.
Do dogs/animals suffer from psychosymtomatic syndrome? Or maybe there is a more fitting terminology.
I had a brainstorm this a.m. when I was out with Rosey. I won't go into details but she loves children. She knocks them down (when they are on their knees petting her) and smothers them with kisses. I called the local children's hospital and asked about animal therapy. (volunteering) I'm waiting on their response but I think it would be wonderful. All the kids in the neighborhood love her and she has a darling personality.
Wish me luck with our venture.
Oh yeah, happy hump day!

My Family
I think it is appropriate to re-post it again.
April 9
Education and Sharing Day
Sharing Day, hmmmmm, I don't like to share my things. My books especially. For some reason when I have people over they look at all my books (I have a "few") and feel that they should read more. They inevitably start perusing my bookshelves for one to borrow.
It's insane and I can't explain it, but my heart starts to go in palpitations. A lot of people treat books like they are only there for their enjoyment, to be used and then abandoned.
My books are like my family, near and dear to me. It would be like lending out your mother or sister, not knowing what condition they would be in when, or if they were returned .
I now have a special shelf for these occasions, books I have never read (nor have any interest in doing so). I gently lead my guests in their direction and rave how wonderful they are. I have never got one of those books back, nor do I care. My family is safe.
Now, as for picking favorites........like my profile says, "I love ALL my books". :)

TCB (Taking Care of Business)
I collect (I hate that term but....) bears. Click on the image to enlarge it and check out his hair and sideburns. He also sings Burnin' Love.

This was the first time they were to Vegas and decided to do it in style. They are not gamblers so they took in some shows and went to some great restaurants. Hell, their tab for dinner at one place was $690.00. The other dinners were only?? $350.00 or $400.00. Must be nice!
No, they are not heavy drinkers. :)
They also took a helicopter ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with champagne cocktails.
They brought back rocks from the site for their son. Cool!
PS They both have high end occupations and work very hard. This was their way of treating themselves and not worrying about the cost of anything. Good for them!!
Trivia
Elvis Presley became a fan of B.T.O. He adopted the motto "takin care of business in a flash" as an homage to this song. He also designed (or had designed for him) a logo with the letters TCB and a lightning bolt for necklaces worn by his entourage.

Easy? .......I Don't Think So!
Well, the oven cost under fifty dollars, but to buy the mixes.................let's just say it's downright highway robbery. They cost around $8-$14, depending if you get the cookie mix or the cake with the frosting. AND that's just for ONE mix.
Taking matters into my own hands, I figured there must be something I could do about this.
You can pirate music and videos from the internet, why not easy bake oven recipes?
I put on my gumshoes and to my delight I found a number of sites that offered exactly what I was looking for.
So today I am making a cookbook for my little six year old neice. I have ten recipes printed on beautiful sheets of paper (pink kitties and hearts all around the border). She loves cats and pink, and Valentine's Day is coming up. Tomorrow I will do the cover and back page as we have a great graphic design program at work.
Then I will bind it with pink ribbons. I hope she will like it, I do. :)

Her Easy Bake Oven is not exactly as illustrated. :)
Tonight I am going to watch Guys and Dolls. I'm looking forward to it as I love old black and white movies. I looked it up on IMDb to get a little briefing and as I also love goofs..............
Goofs for Guys and Dolls (1955)
Continuity: Sky Masterson's handwriting on the back of the Bible verse card changes between shots.
Continuity: When Nathan and Adelaide are in the restaurant, Adelaide sneezes and raises her hand to her nose. In the next shot, she is holding a handkerchief in her hand which wasn't there before.
Continuity: While Sky and Nathan are talking in the restaurant and Nathan is trying to get Sky to eat some cheese cake, a man walking in the street outside disappears and a woman walks past in his place.
Tomorrow's Monday.........Put on a smile and get it over with. :)

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World
I comment on other blogs but that's easy.
Princess (my daughter), love of my life, called me Tuesday and told me a horrific story of what had happened to her that day. She was crossing a street (in a crosswalk) and a woman in her car came barreling thru making a right turn. She picked Princess up and drove six feet with her on the hood of the car before stopping. When she did stop, Princess was thrown off the hood into a snowbank.
My daughter lay there for five minutes before the woman got out of the car. (She obviously was considering just taking off). When she did get out of the car, she came over to Princess and said,
" you're okay right, you can get up". Then she got back in her car and took off.
My daughter is bruised but okay, I realize that but it shook me up real bad.
She's so far away and I worry.
What's wrong with people??
No she didn't get a plate number, she's lying in a snowbank in shock. Witnesses, none came forward.
Has the world become so self absorbed that people have lost their sense of decency and respect for their fellow human beings?
That freakin scares me more than global warming.

Clowning Around

Being A Clown Ain't Easy
My neice Sophia had her 6th birthday party today. My sister rented two clown outfits, one for her and one for me. Then we had to paint our faces.
I am exhausted!! The party was 3-5 pm, but it feels like it was ten hours instead of two. I'll post some pictures later when my brother-in-law sends them to me.
Ten, 5 & 6 year olds were the guests and they were a tough crowd.
There is also a video and the funniest part is when my sister plays the guitar and sings the song, Down By The Bay. There's a part where she stops and each kid has to make up a line in the song that rhymes. One kid said something about a pig and his butt???
Anyway, while my sister is doing her thing, I am behind her dancing, doing a Lucille Ball routine. Remember when she was a clown?
What I wouldn't do for love.( my neice)
That was my day. How was yours?

On A Much Lighter Note......
I personally think this is wonderful if they want to. Same goes for heterosexual couples.
Some couples opt for animals, (eg. dog) instead . I feel it is my responsibility to make you aware of some things before you make either life changing decisions. For example:
Should I Have A Kid??

Or........... Should I Get A Dog??

It's a tough decision, either way. :)
Have A Great TGIF Tomorrow!!
