Woman's Curse

Poor Rosey is in heat. I didn't want to have her spayed right after I got her because, what kind of trust would we have between us after that. Dog's are in heat for approx. 21 days, her breeder told me. So.......I have her wearing children's panties. I even put half a pantie liner in them. Everyone asks me if I take her out in them. NO! That's just stupid. This morning I called her to come for her walk and she hid behind the living room chair with her head peeking out. She thought that I was going to embarrass her with them on too.

This is all so new to me but as a female, I can certainly relate to her situation. Her breeder brought her up on all natural and organic foods but when I was out yesterday I bought some treats. (All girls like to have forbidden stuff at that time of the month) Wrong.... Rosey threw it up, a half hour after she ate it. Poor mite.

I sent a picture of Rosey in her pink panties to my sister and she said I was mean. "How would you like for me to put a picture of you in your underwear online", she asked. This is a woman who doesn't like dogs but she calls Rosey, poor sweet little thing.

Enough, I will get on to other subjects in the future. Promise. :)

ROSEY

This is my angel.

Rosey is the sweetest dog I have ever encountered. She just wants to love you and lick you to pieces. She is four years old and retired from the business of breeding pups. Now it's her time! I am so lucky to have her and spoil her as she so richly deserves. Being in the baby making business ain't easy. I ran into a woman at the pet store who also had a pug and she asked me if I "crated" her during the day. No, I replied. What does she do then, she asked. ANYTHING she wants, I replied.
I have met so many people since I got Rosey. We walk three times every day. Morning, noon and nite. :) This is funny as I have been so private since I moved here.
I'm out walking and I hear someone shouting "Rosey" all the time.
She snores too...haha

Nurse Strangles Man Hired to Kill Her
By ANNE M. PETERSON, AP ONLINE

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - When Susan Kuhnhausen returned home from work one day earlier this month, she encountered an intruder wielding a claw hammer. After a struggle, the 51-year-old nurse fended off her attacker by strangling him with her bare hands.
Neighbors praised the woman for her bravery, and investigators said they believed the dead man - Edward Dalton Haffey - was burglarizing Kuhnhausen's home. But after an investigation, police now say the intruder Kuhnhausen strangled was apparently a hit man hired by her estranged husband - Michael James Kuhnhausen Sr. - to kill her.

The 58-year-old husband was taken into custody Thursday and charged with conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder. He was ordered held on $500,000 bail.
Haffey had worked as a custodian under Kuhnhausen at an adult video store, according an affidavit filed by the Multnomah County District Attorney's office.
Kuhnhausen and his wife were in the process of getting a divorce, and she told officers "her husband was distraught about the divorce and wanting to reconcile but that she was insisting on the divorce," the affidavit states.

A background check showed Haffey had served lengthy prison terms for conspiracy to commit aggravated murder and convictions for robbery and burglary.
Inside a backpack Haffey left at the scene was a day planner with "Call Mike, Get letter," scribbled on the week of Sept. 4, the affidavit said. Michael Kuhnhausen's cell phone number was jotted on the inside of a folder, it said.

An emergency room nurse who lives in a southeast Portland neighborhood, Susan Kuhnhausen arrived home on the evening of Sept. 6 to find Haffey coming at her with a claw hammer.
She was struck in the head and wrested the weapon away, but the struggle continued and Haffey bit the nurse, according to police. A large woman, she was eventually able to get the slight Haffey into a chokehold and police later found him dead in a hallway. An autopsy revealed the cause of death as strangulation.

Police say she acted in self-defense....... DUH!!

Talk about a Twist of Fate..............dadadadaa

Sep 15 1885

P.T. Barnum's prize elephant Jumbo, is struck dead by a freight train in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. It takes 150 men to haul the carcass up an embankment, from whence it is taken to a taxidermist. The stuffed Jumbo becomes a featured attraction in Barnum's circus.

My sister-in-law is from St. Thomas, she nevered mentioned this little? nugget to me. :)
I wonder what they stuffed him with?

Meanwhile.......... back at the ranch

My little darling Rosey is a sweetheart. She really is a godsend because I miss Princess very much. We talk every day but........................

Actually Rosey (not her fault) is quite a responsibility. I put off having a dog for a while now because of this. The 6:30 a.m., noontime, and after work walkabouts are demanding on my time. It's funny, whenever I saw people walking their dogs and picking up their poop, I thought...........ewwwwww! Now it's my dog and even though it's , well........shit, I don't mind it. I love her and that's what you have to do. I'm worried about the winter, I wouldn't want to put my bottom in the snow to go to the bathroom.

I was at the pet store today and another pug came in. The owner(of the pug) knew someone nearby who had a pug that was Rosey's son. Budha. ( small world) She said that Budha's owner would love to meet Rosey. Rosey doesn't cotton to other pugs, she had enough of them in her life. She was a breeder. The lady asked for my e-mail and I gave it to her. It will be very interesting to see how Rosey responds to Budha.

If I had to rename Rosey, it would be Angel, because that's what she is.

Update on Princess

Day 1
After arriving at noon, met with property manager, got keys. When to check out the locale. Got lost three times, fell and scraped her hands, bruised her body. Dirty and stunk so bad she had to buy a new top. Not a happy camper, says the place is spread out like Mississauga or Scarborough. Ewwwwww!

Day 2
Went to the university to get transit pass, still trying to get a fix on the place. Hates it, says the place is a nightmare, highways and biways. Yuck!

Day3
Calls me from Walmart, says she has been waiting for an hour for a taxi. She will call me tomorrow.

Day 4 (Saturday)
Says she had a good day yesterday. Went to orientation a.m., lunch afterwards. Veggie burgers all gone, wants to leave, fellow students convince her to stay. Have a salad they say. Stays and mingles , everyone deciding to go to a pub that evening. She says she doesn't think so, again they say come on. After Walmart, (1 1/2 hours later) she gets home and goes to the pub. Thank Gawd!! She really enjoys herself, getting to meet the others in her program, apparently the university has allowed for more Ph D students this year than ever before.

Found a district that is called Kensington, sorta' like Queen St W. Happy about that!
All in all, getting used to a new city is overwhelming, hopefully it will be okay soon.

Oh yeah, about the taxi service, her taxi driver told her most of the taxi drivers live in the Northeast, (she lives in the Northwest) and they all go home for dinner at 5:00 P.M. That was when she was calling. Go figure that one out???

BooHoo

Princess left for Calgary this morning. We were up at 4 a.m., flight left at 7:00 a.m. For the first time ever I stayed and watched the plane take off from the observation deck. This was a significant moment as I am usually out the airport doors as soon as the person I am seeing off has checked their baggage.
She got a call friday afternoon about an apartment she had applied for online. It's right near the university and we got to see it on the management's website. Cool! That was a close call for us.

If you haven't guessed it yet, Princess is my daughter. I had her when I was a teenager and we are closer than two friends could ever be. I remember when I was in university, she was six and used to write me notes saying, "have a good day, mommy". When she got a little older she told me she used to wonder why my school was so intense when I was only studying "signs". (stop, go, yield)
With my Cape Breton accent that's how I pronounced "science".

She fast tracked high school, got her honors degree in two and a half years and her masters in one. Am I a proud mother................YEAH!

Hence......... Rosey. When I got home from the airport this morning feeling numb and quite despondent, I opened up my door and Rosey jumped right into my arms. Squealing with delight at the sight of me, just what the doctor ordered.
I will post a picture of her shortly so you can see what a cutie she is.

Halifax.......do I really want to make it my home now?????

Plea for help

I have mentioned Princess a number of times on my blog so I'm going to assume that you know who I am talking about. Getting an apartment in Calgary is very difficult when you don't live there. With the time difference , any apartment she calls about is already gone. There are plenty of basement apartments but that is not what she wants or feels is safe. Finding a place to stay for a couple of weeks until she can find one is also hard. Does anyone have any suggestions?

On another note, I have a new addition to my household. Her name is Rosey (nee Rosehip). Her breeder calls all her dogs for herbs and spices. When I was on the phone with her discussing adoption, Princess said I sounded rude when told her name. ROSEHIP I repeated into the phone, sounding like I had just tasted something bad. Anyway, Rosey is an absolutely adorable pug. She is 4 years old and is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. All she wants is to lick your face and be loved. She has become quite attached to me in just 3 days. She follows me everywhere and snuggles up whenever I sit down. She is so funny, I love her. I was told that people with funny personalities get along with pugs the best. She constantly makes me laugh with her antics. I don't even mind the poop and scoop! THAT and the 6am walk I thought I could never do. It's funny, people are attracted to her on our walks and I find myself engaging in conversations that I would never normally have.

I would appreciate any info on how to find a place in NorthWest Calgary besides the local newspapers. Residence is not an option as her furniture has already been shipped.
Here's hoping. :)

Today is going to be a frivolous day

To start, with no further ado........

Aug 10 1966

Last words of James French, sent to the Electric Chair by the state of Oklahoma: "How about this for a headline for tomorrow's paper? FRENCH FRIES."

Continuing on............

A young Navy Officer was in a bad car accident, but due to the heroics of the hospital staff the only permanent injury was the loss of one ear. Since he wasn't physically impaired he remained in the military and eventually became an Admiral. During his career he was always sensitive about his appearance.

One day the Admiral was interviewing three Master Chiefs for the Command Master Chief position.

The first Master Chief was a Surface Navy type and it was a great interview. At the end of the interview the Admiral asked him, "Do you notice anything different about me?

"The Master Chief answered, "Why yes. I couldn't help but notice you are missing your starboard ear, so I need to know whether this impacts your hearing on that side." The Admiral got very angry at this lack of tact and threw him out of his office.

The next candidate, a Aviation Service Master Chief, when asked this same question, answered, "Well yes, you seem to be short one ear." The Admiral threw him out also.

The third interview was with an Submarine Master Chief. He was articulate, extremely sharp, and seemed to know more than the other two Master Chiefs put together. The Admiral wanted this guy, but went ahead with the same question, "Do you notice anything different about me?"

To his surprise the Submarine Master Chief said, "Yes. You wear contact lenses."

The Admiral was impressed and thought to himself, what an incredibly tactful Master Chief. "And how do you know that?" the Admiral asked.

The Submarine Master Chief replied, "Well it's pretty hard to wear glasses with only one fucking ear."

Have a great day. :)

Aug 9 1997

Officers of Brooklyn's 70th precinct sodomize 30 year old Haitian immigrant Abner Louima with a toilet plunger, then insert the feces-contaminated plunger into Louima's mouth. Later, NYPD officials try feebly to dismiss the suspect's injuries as having resulted from ordinary homosexual activity, but a medical examination proves that to be inconsistent with the evidence.

It has to be the uniform that makes these people feel invincible. The power they feel when they don it, similar to soldiers in war zones. I realize it must be only the sick and demented that allow these actions of depravity to take hold of them ??

The officers responsible were Justin Volpe,Thomas Bruder, Charles Schwurz, Michael Bellomo and Thomas Wiese.

Metro Briefing New York: Louima Begins Philanthropic Work In Homeland

Published: February 26, 2003
Five years after the assault by New York police officers that led to a $5.8 million settlement, Abner Louima is back in Haiti, his impoverished homeland. In recent visits, Mr. Louima, 36, who now lives in Florida, said he had started paying tuition for 14 poor children and set up a nonprofit group, the Abner Louima Foundation. He said he also hoped to raise money to build a community center and a hospital.

Today I just found out by accident(surfing), that someone I was quite fond of is dead. I never met him, only talked over the telephone, read his letters and e-mails to my friend. Always sending his fondest regards to me thru her. I had the greatest admiration for his wit and humor and just the slightest crush because of this.
My friend Janet had been his literary agent in England and they always kept in touch. I have one of his books Bedlam, signed with an endearing note.
John died April 11, 2005 of acute pancreatitis.
I haven't spoken with Janet for over six years due to a situation that I couldn't forgive her.
It involved the murder of a man, leaving 2 small children and her befriending the woman I held responsible for his death.
Janet is quite a lot older than me and has taught me things about life that I never would have experienced myself.
I'm just very sad right now.

Wow, over a week since I wrote anything. Time flies when you're having fun. I have two house guests which have been taking up my time. Princess, who has moved in until she goes to Calgary and Darkstar for two weeks while her owners are away.

I realized that when living alone you get into very selfish routines. Some not always good. With myself, I have become somewhat of a hermit. Not anymore.......

This is the first time in my life that I have ever lived alone and thought I loved it?? Having Princess here has been a great change for the better. We go out shopping, eating, drinking, and then come home to chat, watch a movie, whatever. Waking up in the morning and laughing over coffee. Just being happy and laughing a lot is wonderful.

Now Kitty is not the same shy kitty that was with me 3 months ago. She arrived by carriage, with bag and litter box (in someone else's hand) and immediately made herself at home. She even brought along her own hacienda. Some tubular structure that has 2 levels, 2 self-contained compartments , covered with carpet. Quite the drum.
I didn't see that one comin'.
Okee........... it took George 4 trips to bring in all her stuff. She has also gotten very saucy. I was told to give her ONE treat a day. (I confess to overindulging her last visit).
Her first nite with me, I picked her up to snuggle(after a treat) and when I put her down she swiped my leg with her paw. Not nice.
Today I refused her demand for a treat and when I left her in the kitchen, she started banging the cupboard door open and shut with her paw. (For quite a while I might add).

This might seem like blattering to you, but it is quite a revelation to me. I will miss my little family when they leave.

PS
Holy Shit!!!

I just went to pet HELLCAT (which she has now been offically christened), and she literally nailed me. My finger is bleeding! She was lying on my bed and I innocently went over to pet her. I don't think she will be receiving another invite. I might like company BUT I'm not a sadist.
What the hell happened in 3 months?? She comes from a loving family.

Blogging

I heard about blogging but didn't really know what it was about. I accidently came across one in my internet travels. I found the blogger interesting and responded. (although somewhat cranky, the blogger). During that time I came across other bloggers who I found intelligent and funny. I decided to create a blog myself, which I enjoy.

The thing is, is that the bloggers that I enjoy happen to be gay males. Am I a fag hag? That term alwaysed seemed to have such a negative connotation, I tend to shy away from it.

1. Some would say that fag hags are pitied based on the assumption that their fascination with gay men lies in infatuation, which will most likely never be consummated. While this is occasionally true, most fag hag relationships contain no romantic feelings; indeed, some fag hags are lesbian.

2. This relationship, like most positive relationships, generally evolves out of shared interests and opinions. It offers heterosexual women an opportunity to participate in a gay community where arts, fashion, and literature are embraced and encouraged.

3. The gay community also offers straight women a safe environment to party in relative freedom from unwanted sexual advances.

None of these really pertain to me except the freedom from unwanted sexual advances, at this time in my life. I escaped from a relatively long relationship (8 yrs), very abusive and volatile. I even have to have my phone and address under another name for my safety. Do I want another man in my life now? Definitely not. I am just enjoying the peace and quiet that life allows me.

Getting back to blogging, I really enjoy having contact with people that are intelligent, funny, witty, informative, and enlightening. The fact that they are gay, well............. suits me just fine!
I just hope that they accept me for me.

That's What Friends Are For

Dionne Warwick got it right!

Keep smilin' keep shinin'
Knowing you can always count on me for sure
That's what friends are for
In good times and bad times I'll be on your side forever more
Ohh That's what friends are for

I came back from my holiday early because Princess was going away on holiday and needed someone to be at her apartment for the movers today. She's going to Calgary for her graduate studies. Up at 5 A.M. like a trooper, to be at her place to make sure everything is in order. The movers were great, small but wirey. I didn't think they could handle the heavy boxes, neither one of them was over 5'6" and 120 lbs soaking wet, but............you can't judge a book by it's cover. They were Mighty Men!!! Superman could take tips. HeHe.
Talking about books, her estimate for the poundage in moving is way more than she thought.
$1000.00 more. And it's all her freakin' books that caused it. Oh well, who can put a price on one's addiction. Certainly not me. I'll give her the bad news when she gets home. She's now on the beach in Tobago enjoying herself and hopefully she has a cute cabana boy catering to her every need.

I also have to keep on top of her laptop that she had to send to Texas to be repaired. They're a bitch to get a hold of. Good luck to me! :)

She has this 2' by 3' board to make notes on. Typical, she has it bordered in pink satin and white tulle. I wasn't being nosey, I was just wondering if they would take it because it wasn't boxed.
She had her new budget written on it. Check this out!!

Rent............... Whatever
Groceries....... $ 100.00/mth
Necessities.......$ 100.00/mth
Frivolities.........$100.00/week

I don't know if that was a typo, but it was written by hand. :)

I love her dearly, and she was there for me many times when I needed her, so as Dionne says.....................

I so, so love Dan Savage XXXOOO

Dear Dan,

I love my husband so, so much. He's so, so good to me. But there's another man I'm so, so attracted to. I don't want to jeopardize my marriage but I'm afraid I might in a moment of weakness. At the same time, I don't want to give up the activity where I see this other man, because the activity (martial-arts study) is a really important part of my life.

So, So Married

Reply

Hm. You can't stop seeing this other man because you study martial arts with him and that's such an important part of your life—unlike, say, your marriage—and as everyone knows there's only one martial-arts school on the whole freakin' planet. So you're pretty much condemned to spend time with this other man until the inevitable inevitability inevitably happens.

Puh-leeze, SSM. If your husband doesn't rate the supreme sacrifice of switching to some other martial-arts school, then nothing I can say is going to stop you from getting what you so, so desperately want. But after you fuck this other guy, SSM, don't run around pretending that you were just a victim of cruel circumstance—martial arts made me do it!—and not the so, so guilty instigator.

For the first time, Napalm powder is mixed with gasoline and sprayed on live human beings. This feat is achieved by U.S. Army forces against the Japanese on Luzon in the Philippines.
In grand Internet tradition, I now give you the recipe to produce this horrible substance: Take styrofoam, add benzene and gasoline; ignite; pour on [insert ethnic slur here].

Kim Phuc June 1972

"The Girl In The Photo", was accidentally burned by her own countrymen, who were fighting her future countrymen. The only American participants of any nature were the journalists who reported the event and made her famous, and the doctors who saved her life.
If left to the care of her countrymen it is unlikely that the little girl would have lived to market forgiveness to anyone. But American doctors saved her and Americans made her famous enough to forgive them for an accident in which no American participated.

When the photo was taken and first published, the truth was published with it. It was an all-Vietnamese accident, at a time when American soldiers had been withdrawn almost completely from participation in ground action. Peter Arnett, Fox Butterfield, and Christopher Wain were three who independently reported on the incident at the village of Trang Bang, when it happened in 1972. Their news reports showed it to be an accidental bombing by the Vietnamese Air Force, during an all-Vietnamese fight. The other reports of the time said the same and film footage taken that day clearly shows a Vietnamese Air Force Skyraider making a highly photogenic low level run, dropping four canisters of napalm with the journalists and South Vietnamese soldiers standing on the road near the village as spectators. The film depicts a casual group, not seeking shelter from either the aircraft or enemy fire, and almost makes it appear that the bomb run was made for the benefit of the film crews.

Somehow, talking about my holidays (which I initially intended to do) seems ludicrous.

Holidays

Heading down to The Cape tomorrow, Breton not Cod, for two whole weeks. Yeah!! Just to be fair, Cape Cod is lovely, it actually reminds me of Cape Breton. The drive to Hyannis is route 6 from Sandwich I think, and in Cape Breton it's route 4. They feel very similiar, quiet, beautiful and untouched. It was weird driving down that road, knowing that JFK drove down it many times to go home.

You can go home again, it's just not the same.

My father died when I was very young and our (6 siblings) mother was all we had. She was our matriarch, our anchor. We lost her almost four years ago and things will never be the same. Memories are all we have, and she left us wonderful ones. It really makes you realize the fragility of life when you lose someone that is such an important part of your being. Remember, every day you make memories for someone and that's all they will have of you when you are gone.

Oh yeah, holidays, sorry I got melancholy for a bit. :(

We have a few rules, one of which is no computers allowed. DVD'S ARE!!! It's so funny, we all get up at different times and the early birds usually watch a movie in our jammies, before breaky, in the den adjoining the kitchen. When the stragglers start to arise and want to talk, all they get is SHHHHHHH!!!!!! It totally pisses them off and it's always the same ones. Needless to say, I am not one of them. :) It's usually the kiddies and the kids at heart that are up early.
Then we get on to doing really boring stuff like going to the beach all day, swimming, windsurfing, waterskiing, scuba diving, boat cruises, building sand castles. Then coming home to eat lobster, steak, veggies(we have a few vegetarians), bar-b-que whatever, drink gallons of wine and beer. It's rough I'll tell ya!

You can't go home again to what it was but you can go home and make the best of what it is.
Everyone, enjoy all your holidays. :)

Based on his erratic behavior, the Governor of Louisiana, Earl K. Long, is committed to a state mental hospital. Long responds by arranging for the hospital's director to be fired, and the new director proclaims him perfectly sane. (It is no secret that the man was completely nuts.)

I don't know about you but I find this extremely funny. His wife, known colloquially as Miz Blanche, had him committed after finding out about his affair with stripper Blaze Starr. (Remember Paul Newman).

Long left Blaze $50,000 in his will she refused to accept. Ain't love grand.

Mixed Feelings

Princess and I started watching Six Feet Under last year. We were hooked. She would download it as I don't have cable. (I don't watch enough TV to warrant it). She left the DVD at my place and I watched an episode without her. WRONG MOVE!! I fessed up and after that she didn't share her downloading again. I broke a cardinal rule and suffered in silence.
Anyhoo, after six months went by I decided to rent the box set, starting with season four. Then yesterday I got season five and Princess told me she didn't watch the last episode. I was so excited as we both loved the show so much and we were going to be able to share the ending.

I loved all the characters, Keith and David were my favorites though, especially Keith, he was so supportive. I know it was an appropriate ending as the show dealt with death, but.............................. I found it, a bit disconcerting. I actually felt nauseous for a few moments.

On a lighter note, at the end when they were all dying and they showed Brenda, I said to Princess, wow she really let herself go. (Remember I was watching the whole season in one day) Princess says, what do you expect she's over eighty. Remind me not to get old around you.
In my defense, her hair was long and scraggly.

Th..th...th...that's all folks. Enjoy your week. :)

Jun 10 1999
Outside on the front lawn of his Miami home, Russell Cameron is covered with trash and doused with gasoline. Then his lunatic nephew, Thomas Pellechio, sets the pile on fire and runs away. When police arrive, they discover a 12.5 inch Oriental sword in Cameron's rectum, rammed in all the way up to the hilt.

Ouch!! It is rumored that Pellechio was sexually abused by his uncle. He is found lying on the ground next to the church, screaming that he was possessed by the devil and needed help. If true, he was possessed by the devil all right......... his uncle.

In a small community where I was born, there was an incident, similiar, fire and revenge was involved. A pedophile priest lived in the nearby glebehouse. Late one night, a molotav cocktail was thrown thru the window. It destroyed the building but not the person inside. Dam!!
It was done by a young man who had hatred in his heart because of the abuse he suffered from this priest as a child.

This is a depressing story as there were a number of pedophile priests who darkened our doors. Being a rural area, it was a haven for them to do as they wished.
My older brothers were very lucky, the priest we had, during their time as alterboys, was a ladies man! He was contankerous and edgy, and they thought he was "a pain the ass" . Little did they know. He used to cuff them on the ear if they didn't ring the bell at the right time. He also drank. I'd take that anyday over what could have been.

Epilogue

The priest designed a new beautiful building, with walk around decks on the main floor and the second story, overlooking the Bras d'Or Lakes. Breathtaking, more like a chalet then a humble cottage. (At the parishoners expense).
He now writes books and is not a parish priest anywhere. (Not in jail either).

The young man who set the fire.........was found guilty of arson.

The parish.....glad to be rid of him, no matter what the cost. They now have a priest, Fr. Joe, who is, how shall I say.......... absolutely wonderful. In the true sense of the word.

Despondent over court-ordered estrogen treatments to cure his homosexuality, Alan Turing commits suicide by consuming an apple laced with cyanide. Turing is considered the founder of modern computing, a pioneer in the field of Artificial Intelligence, and a crucial member of the team that cracked Germany's Enigma cipher in World War ll.

It is rumoured that this method of self-poisoning was in tribute to Turing's beloved film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Since 1966, the Turing Award has been given by the Association for Computing Machinery to a person for technical contributions to the computing community. It is widely considered to be the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in the computing world.

During the Wish You Were Here recording sessions, Syd Barrett just happens to wander into Abbey Road studio while Pink Floyd are mixing "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," a song written about Barrett. At first, none of Syd's former bandmates recognizes the fat, bald lunatic who is compulsively brushing his teeth.

Happenstance, perhaps........

Barrett's trademark was playing his Fender Esquire guitar by sliding a zippo lighter up and down the fret-board thru an old echo box to create the mysterious, otherwordly sounds that became associated with the group.

Today
He is apparently not happy being reminded about his past as a musician and the other members of Pink Floyd have no direct contact with him. However, he did go to his sister's house in 2002 to watch the BBC Omnibus documentary made about him - apparently he found some of it "too noisy", though he's said to have enjoyed hearing "See Emily Play" again.

I went to a Pink Floyd concert at the CNE a number of years ago with my then boyfriend. We were in the press section beside the stage, excellent view. I was not familiar with their music but went because I thought he was. Halfway thru, he asked me if I was enjoying myself. Not really, I responded, how about you? Not really he said, I thought you liked them. We laughed and said "we're outta' here". Sorry Pink Floyd.

Jun 4 1939
After already having been turned away by Cuba, the SS St. Louis is also denied permission to land in Florida. So it is forced to return to Europe with its cargo of 963 Jewish refugees, most of whom will later die in Nazi concentration camps.

God Bless America.......
I wonder what Canada would have done?

Death is Inevitable

Every person who smokes, is going to die. Every person who never smokes, is going to die.

Every person who is "overweight", is going to die. Every person who is never "overweight", is going to die.

Every person who uses illicit drugs, is going to die. Every person who never uses illicit drugs, is going to die.

Every person who drinks alcohol, is going to die. Every person who never drinks alcohol, is going to die.

Every person who fails to heed the advice of health advocates, is going to die. Every person who devotedly follows all the advice of health advocates, is going to die.

It's all a matter of time. What we do with that time, interim, is our choice.

Jun 3 1943
Three days after a sailor had been badly injured in a brawl with a group of Hispanics, a mob of 60 servicemen leaves the Los Angeles Naval Reserve Armory and bludgeons anybody wearing a zoot suit. The first two victims are a couple of boys, aged 12 and 13, who were just sitting in the Carmen Theater watching a movie. Thus begins a weeklong race riot.

Why is it that when some men/women put on a military uniform they feel they are above the law. They are encouraged to be that dark side of themselves that is not acceptable in a normal environment. Demeaning, debasing, torturing fellow human beings. Psychological warfare is their defense?

On a Much Lighter Note

I saw a picture of Hugh Hefner celebrating his 80th birthday with his three girlfriends. Is it just me or do his girlfriends get less attractive as he gets older? Sure, they got the hair and the silicone bods, but their faces. Somehow horses come to mind.

I wonder if they do paper, scissors, rock.... to see who has to sleep with him that nite?

Jun 2 2003
Thousands of defeated Iraqi troops marched on U.S. occupation headquarters in Baghdad, demanding to be paid. It is perhaps the first time in history a defeated army has demanded payroll from the victors.

WTF
They must have gotten the US confused with Canada, you know what suckers we are for being politically correct. Canada would say, oh we're so sorry, how much do you want.

Spoke with my oldest sister today. She's a nurse in Nfld. I told her about fat bastard and she said good riddance, he would only be a troublemaker anyway. She shed a new light on the situation and I realized that it was a good thing it happened the way it did. He can be someone else's lawsuit!

On a lighter note, I bought a fantastic new camera and I am going to use it to explore Halifax. I hated this place when I moved here but now I am determined to discover everything about it.

So get ready for a virtual reality tour of Halifax folks. :)

May 29 1806
Dueling over a horse racing wager, future President Andrew Jackson takes a bullet in the chest from fellow lawyer Charles Dickinson. The slug shatters two ribs and buries itself near his heart. Then it is Jackson's turn to fire, which manages to sever an artery and kill his opponent.

Sounds like something that Jean Chretien would do. One thing about Jean, he's not afraid to use his fists.

What a Day

I had the most obnoxious man in today. First, I said with a smile, how are you today? Terrible, he said. What's wrong, I asked? If you don't remember that's your problem he responded. He was in a so called accident 1 year ago when an 80 year old lady backed out of her driveway and hit the tire of his car. Since then he has been walking with a cane, going to physiotherapy, and saying he's suing her up the ying-yang. He has 3 lawsuits on the go. Nice guy.
He's 300 lbs at least, and suspect his body could absorb a much bigger shock than that. After he's seated, I asked him some questions about his medical health ( necessary) and got nothing but sarcastic remarks as answers.
I was alone in the room with him writing notes on his file and he says, "turn that disgusting noise off". (It was the radio) . I said just a moment, as I was in the middle of writing. He said, NOW! Or I'm leaving. I got up and turned it off saying, be nice Mr. X there's no need for that. He jumped up out of the chair, whipped off his bib, and said, I don't like you, never liked you, never will like you. One in a million ain't bad!
He's been abusive with everyone else in the clinic but it still shook me up. I made sure to document everything that took place and had my boss sign as a witness.

How was your day?

The Stanley Cup

1990
Stanley Cup Final, Game 5, May 24, 1990.Edmonton 4, Boston 1

Will they do it again in 2006?
What's up with Edmonton running out of beer? That would NEVER happen in the maritimes. Water maybe.... :)

I woke up this morning at 7 a.m. feeling great. I took the day off just in case, cause I knew I would be indulging yesterday. My hair is not tooooo bad. This morning on the phone, Princess told me I looked like the head on a pez dispenser. Square. She wanted to hold my head back and see what came out of my mouth. I didn't cotton to that remark and said if she did she wouldn't like what came out. I played around with my hair after that, (who wouldn't). Now it looks cute. I think? It's all zaggety and stuff, I like that. Bad hair day..........nah-unh. :)

Tuesday, May 23, 2006

Hi, I'm slightly "in the bag", aka inebriated. That's what happens when you mix beer with a lotta' champagne. Beware. I hope I won't pay dearly tomorrow. Princess's graduation was fantastic! I hope she enjoyed her party afterwards, I did! Oh, I also got my hair cut today. My long golden locks left on the salons floor, to be swept away. Shit, I should have given it to charity. Oh well, too late now. Here I am shorn, naked as a sheared sheep, and maybe that's why I feel so light headed? I think I will like it?? The employees in the salon couldn't believe I actually did it. It wasn't like I was Rapunzel or anything, it was just pretty hair. Hair today gone tomorrow, sorry, :) I did say I was drinking right?

May 21 1952
Mr. T is born in the ghetto.

Einstein said, "There are two things that are infinite, the universe and Mr. T's pity for fools... and I'm not sure about the universe."

Mr. T does not read these facts. He ain't got time for this jibba-jabba. :-)

Sad but Happy

My bestest friend, Princess, is graduating from Dal on Tuesday. BUT she is going to Calgary in August to complete her graduate studies.( Ph.D. in literature) What am I to do?? No more sarcastic morning conversations, no one else to share the "sense of ridiculous" with? I know, I know, e-mail, bell canada, but it ain't the same. She called me one morning last month and said guess what? I'm going to be a cowgirl! I'm gonna' get me a pink cowgirl hat.

This comes from a girl, who when she was 16??, her father took her out xmas shopping and bought her TWO pairs of cowboy boots. She was into goth? or hiphop? at the time, and wouldn't be caught dead in such things. (She was born veggie) .
That nite, she dropped them at my bedroom door and said merry xmas! I liked them but felt bad that it was her present. Her dad lives in a unique, albeit weird, world of his own.
I had a great compromise, my boyfriend would buy the boots from her, for me and she could buy what she liked for herself. Win, win situation. TaDa!!!

Memories,
Th-th-th-that's All Folks!

May 18 1936
Tokyo gangster Kichizo Ishida is accidentally strangled by his mistress during a session of rough sex. Ishida had been a "gasper," someone who enjoys the sexual effects of asphyxiation. The woman, Sada Abe, indulged him by wrapping her pink kimono belt around his neck. After her lover's death, Abe cuts off Ishida's penis and scrotum with a meat cleaver and carries them around until she is finally arrested, three days later.

Wow.... I didn't know ASA was around for that long.

Enlightenment

I learned something about me that I'm not proud of today. Our receptionist brought it to my attention. She was in a bitchy mood but that's irrelevant. Apparently, I cut people off in our conversations. (It was regarding a trival situation with her, boohoo, but I was interested.) On reflexion, I realized, I ask a question, then before they are finished, I ask another one.
The thing is, is that after I ask the question, they start to answer and I know what they are going to say, so I go on to another topic.
By the time their thought process has formed the answer, I get it already. They don't know this and maybe I come across as being indifferent to their response.
No one has ever said this to me before, and when it happened today, I laughed and said, I guess I've been told! The owner of the clinic heard me and said what's so funny? I told him and he laughed too! My patients love me and I love them but I will be more aware of my gift in the future. It will be tedious but I will persevere. :-)

May 17 1924
Two youths discover a human skull on the banks of the Leine in Hanover, Germany. And although two more skulls are found a month later, police ignore it until a sackful of bones turn up on the riverbank. Dragging the Leine yields another 500 bones, belonging to about 27 victims. Eventually, police arrest Fritz Haarmann for the crimes. He would lure runaway boys back to his apartment, where they would be raped, killed, and cut into steaks. Then the unlicensed butcher would sell the meat as beef on the black market. All told, he killed between 40 and 50 boys.

Ewwwww!

Cannibalism

In 15th century Scotland, a highlander named Sawney Beane and his wife lived in a remote mountain pass, where they subsisted on a steady diet of unfortunate travelers, which they also fed to their 14 children, and a number of incestuous grandchildren. Needless to say, when the civilized world found out about this, their outrage was so great that they executed the entire family, amputating the limbs of the men so that they bled to death, and burning the women and children at the stake. Now that's civilized!

At no time did any one of them express remorse or repentance. But, on the other hand, it must be remembered that the children and grandchildren of Sawney Beane and his wife had been brought up to accept the cave dwelling cannibalistic life as normal. They had known no other life, and in a very real sense they had been well and truly "brain -washed," in modern terminology. They were isolated from society, and their moral and ethical standards were those of Sawney Beane himself. He was the father figure and mentor in a small tightly integrated community. They were trained to regard murder and cannibalism as right and normal, and they saw no wrong in it. It poses the question as to how much of morality is the product of the environment and training, and how much is (or should be) due to some instinctive but indefinable inner voice of, perhaps, conscience. Did the young members of the Beane clan know that what they were doing was wrong?

Sammy Davis Jr., dies of throat cancer in Beverly Hills. After the legendary Rat pack singer/entertainer is buried with $70,000 in jewelry, the family discovers that Mr. Bojangles was broke and left millions of dollars in unpaid back taxes. His widow then orders the body exhumed so they can repo the jewelry.

That's just downright pathetic!

Family
I moved to Halifax almost four years ago. My younger sister moved here two years ago. My older sister one year ago. We all live separate, different lives but are very close. My older sister drops off large bags for me every couple of months, filled with every kind of cleaning and household supplies you can imagine. She loves Vim!! My younger sister is always buying me expensive cooking utensils. I used to love to cook. Our oldest sister, doesn't live here but is planning to move. She bought me a computer because she thought it would be good for me. My three brothers are ..............men. They help me in different ways, fixing my cars, moving furniture, all the manly stuff. :-) We are all uniquely different but get along because we are family and owe it all to our parents. They were wonderful, beautiful people.
When I was in university, my second oldest sister gave me her Jetta instead of trading it in when she was buying a new car. She thought I might need it.
This is not a one way street, I have always been there for them when they needed it and always will.

Yesterday was Mother's Day. It will be four years this september since my mother died. My father died when I was little so she was a very important part of my life. All our lives, I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She was beautiful, funny, smart and a lady. Except when she had a little too much to drink, she had a very low tolerance for alcohol. Then she told everyone exactly what she really thought of them. It was amazing, the next day she would get up, sit at the breakfast table with a totally innocent face that defied anyone to mention anything. We never did. My brother Duncan & I were the only ones never to come under her wrath. I don't know if that was because we were her favorites or because we are both very non judgemental.Whatever floats your boat man.
I know she is still with me, but I miss her so much.

To all my american friends, this does not include you.

Sitting together on a train, traveling through the Canadian Rockies, were an American guy, a Canadian guy, a little old Greek lady, and a young blonde girl with large breasts. The train goes into a dark tunnel and a few seconds later there is the sound of a loud slap. When the train emerges from the tunnel, the American has a bright red hand print on his cheek. No one speaks. The little old Greek lady thinks:The American guy must have groped the blonde in the dark and she slapped his cheek. The blonde girl thinks: That American guy must have tried to grope me in the dark, but missed and fondled the old lady and she slapped his cheek. The American thinks: The Canadian guy must have groped the blonde in the dark. She tried to slap him but missed and got me instead.
The Canadian thinks: I can't wait for another tunnel, just so I can smack the American again. Now THAT'S Canadian.

During a procession outside the shrine of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal, security guards overpower Juan Fernandez Krohn before he can attack Pope John Paul II with a bayonet. Krohn, an ultraconservative Spanish priest opposed to the Vatican II reforms, decided that the Pope must be killed for being an "agent of Moscow."

Do Spanish priests have that 007, Licensed to Kill in their vows?

Today

I meet so many different people in my work. In the dental office you can't always judge a book by it's cover. In other circumstances you might make an accurate opinion of someone, but not there. If someone seems to be abrasive, distant, unfriendly, it's not necessarily their true nature. They are just afraid. To be able to put these people at ease is one of my greatest pleasures. I use different techniques with each one, being sensitive is one of my greatest gifts. To get a hug from someone who was terrified, is a feeling I can't put into words.

Interesting, one guy told me today that he didn't want to have his wisdom teeth removed because it would be like losing a piece of his soul???? (He was in his forties). I asked him if he had his appendix. No, he said. Do you have your tonsils? No, he said. Do you feel any different, I asked. No, he replied........................................

I learned a new expression today. "Busy as a blue arse fly". I was curious where it originated and in my travels found this. Don't ask. :-)

Sheep Shaggers
Literally men who have carnal knowledge of sheep. Figuratively used of rural people in bleak windswept areas especially the Welsh and Falkland Islanders.

How can someone pinpoint something like that? I remember a number of years ago there was a guy in southwestern Ontario charged with sheep shagging.
Can happen anywhere but what's with the bleak windswept areas?

I was watching the news last nite and there was that little pipsqueak, Peter MacKay, in Kandahar, basically telling the troops to buck up. If I could have reached through the television and choked him, I would.

Globe and Mail
Geoffrey York

(Peter MacKay speaking to the soldiers.)
You're elevating the lives of the Afghan people, and that also helps the security of all of us," he told a group of Canadian soldiers at the main Kandahar military base at an airfield outside the city. Canada has 2,300 troops in Afghanistan; 15 Canadian soldiers have died there.
"If we're able to build a stable, productive society here, which is what your boots on the ground assure us the ability to do, that's going to pay huge dividends everywhere. We want you to know that your country is with you all the way, and you're getting the job done. Peace will be your lasting legacy in Afghanistan."

What about MacKay's own boots?

This comes from the man who ran home to daddy after his girlfriend dumped him. On the news, trying to look like Prince Charles on the moors of Scotland, in his wellies. When in fact, it was what it was. He was ballyhooing in Pictou, in a potato patch with his rubber boots.

Even Daddy MacKay, told Potato Pete, "Suck it up, boy".

Quote for The Day

Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

Yesterday I had an e-mail from my brother. He has set up e-mail addresses for my neice and nephew. They are twins, almost seven, Maddy and Calum Duncan. They are the most beautiful children, inside and out. We worry about Calum because he is so gentle and kind. How is he to survive in such a cruel world? They must have been on their father's gluteus maximus for a while now about this.
Anyway, their parents are busy of course, and to reach them by phone is, let's say difficult. The twins have taken it into their own hands, literally. I have had five e-mails from them already, with attached files no less. Pictures of badgers, puppies, baby penguins, telling me they hope I like them. And they love me vary, vary much!
Calum is my sole mate, but Maddy is like me, she has a phenomenal memory.

If only we could all stay like children.......... Nice dream, huh.

May 8 1991
In a room at Little Rock's Excelsior Hotel, Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton exposes his penis to state employee Paula Jones and propositions her to perform fellatio. In her civil deposition, Jones will later claim to have witnessed certain "distinguishing characteristics" of the governor's genitalia, the precise nature of which soon becomes the subject of much speculation. For her trouble, Jones eventually receives an out-of-court settlement for $850,000 and a nude pictorial in Penthouse magazine.

The previously vague allegations were clarified on Oct. 15 in the Washington Times. Having seen the Jones affidavit, the Times reported that Clinton had "a distinctly angled bend visible when the penis is erect." :-)

Although people claim that women have penis envy, our society actually has a penis obsession. We love penises! The penis, even in our modern age, still symbolizes power. Men cherish their penises, name them and love them as they love their cars, even going so far as to wax them lovingly until they shine.

I won't even get into the maypole!

On a lighter note, here in the maritimes, the sun is shining, it's warm and great to be alive. I'm off today, went shopping and now I'm having lobster for lunch.

May 6 2002
Dutch right-wing politician Pim Fortuyn is shot six times in the head as he leaves a recording studio in Hilversum, near Amsterdam. His party platform was based on repeal of the discrimination clause of the constitution, an odd position considering that Fortuyn was homosexual. It is not clear what assassin Volkert van der Graaf's motive was, speculations ranging from Fortuyn's public statements regarding fur farming (van der Graaf is a founder of that country's Animal Liberation Front) to his sympathies towards Dutch Muslims.

Interesting................The nationalism of Pim Fortuyn

Saturday.................................lazy day, if you want. And I want! I can afford to be lazy today as I'm off Monday. YEAH!!!!! No holiday, just an off day. Darkstar and I have bonded? Maybe compatible is more apropos. She does her thing and I do mine. Nothing! But we respect each other's nothingness.

Noah's Ark lands on Mount Ararat, according to calculations by James Ussher, Archbishop of the Church of Ireland.

Good Read

"Not Wanted on the Voyage", by Timothy Findley.

My hero is Mrs. Noyes, a sad but appealing alcoholic who sips from jars of gin stowed all over the house but who understands animals (she leads her sheep in singalongs). Mottyl, is also a favorite.

A newly-delivered baby falls through a train toilet as it is born near the city of Guangzhou, China. After the fall, a second train speeds over the newborn. Although the baby survives unharmed, radio announcers are later reprimanded for laughing hysterically as they report the story.

That really wasn't funny, but............. what the hell was the mother doing with the baby in the toilet? Delivering it? Bad decision! Words of the wise, don't deliver your baby in a train or airplane bathroom.

Humble Apology

I am sorry for being so rough on my kitty guest yesterday. :-( I had a bad day. She is sweet and I am a terrible person. Shame on me. I took a tumble yesterday, head first, and hurt myself on my left side. It was outside a professional center, you know the complex with tons of offices and shops. Anyway, the cement walkway had a big hole two metres in circumference, and I fell into it. Ouch! I got up, dusted myself off, and continued on. The ego, you know! Later, bruised but ego intact, someone asked me what was on the elbow of my coat. I looked.............. it was full of blood!! So much for the ego.
I called the center and told them what had happened to me. It could have been an older person who really could have hurt themselves. They said they would take care of it. I said okay but I would like them to take care of the dry cleaning of my coat. ( It is a very expensive one) :-) No problem they said, I guess not I was thinking.

Moral of the story, don't take your bad days out on innocent people/animals.

May 3 1988
The White House confirms stories that President Ronald Reagan's travel and public appearances are scheduled around astrological data furnished by a mystic in San Francisco. The astrologer also supplies input to the timing of critical international events, such as a recent arms control summit in Iceland.

WTF
"So Speaks The Soothsayer", Joan Quigley, was running The United States of America from 1981-1989 ??? I always thought it was Nancy!!!!!

Love is fleeting.....................

I know I'm fickle, but.............I thought I could last longer than this. That cat (notice I'm not using kitty) is not all that!! It's cute, granted, but it has terrible personal hygiene. (I'm kinda' particular about that). It's long fur drags stuff from its' litter box, and I'm not talking gravel! Jeez, I'm even using the term "it" now, I'm a terrible person. I was asking people today how you bathe a cat. It's gotta be done if I am too cohabitate with her.

It's getting serious, tonite when I got home, she was licking herself(cleaning?) and I said to her "you better be cleaning your arse." I peeked a couple of seconds later, and their she was................., weird.

All said and done, now I know why I don't have a cat!

May 1 1997
Sportscaster Frank Gifford is caught on video having sex with TWA flight attendant Suzen Johnson at the New York Regency Hotel. On the tape, Johnson is heard moaning: "Oh, God that's so good. Oh my, you're so big. I knew you would be -- I just knew you would be." A tabloid paid Johnson $75,000 to fornicate with Gifford, and she later goes on to pose nude in Playboy for a six-figure check.

That's my BIGGIST hee hee hah hah, to date.

Today

I had the most amazing day. Three ladies, of the ripe old age of ninety, as patients. They were fantastic! My first one was a librarian at the the first library in Halifax. She is a Miss, sterotypical?? Anyway, she filled my head with tons of information. My next guest was from P.E.I. Her husband worked for CBC forever, and all we talked about was the Island. I told her about Rodney's Oyster Bar in Toronto, and how I fell in love with malpeque oysters. (They are the BEST) . She told me all about the island and another learning experience took place.
Then I had my next lady, and this one was the winner!! She was born in Quebec, a small place east of Montreal. I asked her if she spoke french, she said "a little", as she was Scottish and she grew up in a Scottish community. Way to go..... she said her grandmother spoke Gaelic and she knew a little. I blew her away by responding in Gaelic. I am Scottish and my grandmother was fluent in the language. I said a few things to her, some funny, and she was delighted. Remember she's ninety.

All said and done, I hope if I ever reach near that age, that I will be as delightful as these ladies.

Apr 30 1975
Saigon falls to the Communists, necessitating a sudden helicopter evacuation from the U.S. embassy's rooftop. Says one of the pilots: "We sent the journalists out on one of the earliest lifts because they were becoming a pain in the ass."

Ah gee, I find that so hard to believe.

A Study of Cat Behavior

I am going to use the next two weeks to my advantage and learn something new. Only problem is, I don't know if my subject is the typical cat. She's way too timid and sweet. I have seen some pretty beasty felines out there, but I'll do what I can, with what I've got.

So Darkstar (owner is a skateboarder....) and I begin. She's so not a Darkstar! 3:00 a.m., there was a crash , I lifted my head up from the pillow, looked around, remembered I had a cat, fell back to sleep. I found a small table knocked over when I got up. No big schmeel. Then later, I realized she couldn't reach my windows, so I put a chair by a couple of them. Let's see, oh yeah, after that, she had the decency to retch up a furball on my bathroom floor. ( three actually) I had to call a friend to see if the size was normal because one was huge. They said it was because of her long fur. Phew! The kitty is a tad expensive, I don't need added stress.

Okay, let me see what I have learned today.

Cats like to play and jump on things. Cats like to look out windows. Cats cough up disgusting bits of their own fur.

Not a bad start, right? :->

April 29, 1971
Bill Graham closes down Fillmore and Fillmore East, www.FillmoreEast.com

To be around at that time and to experience the music scene.................... Oh, what a dream!!!

I am so excited today!!

I have a female guest staying with me for two whole weeks!!! The last time she stayed with me was two years ago when she was only a couple of months old. I was up early this morning preparing for her arrival. Her parents are going on vacation and have entrusted her to me.
My guest is a chocolate persian kitty cat. She's so beautiful, big brilliant copper eyes, that look at you so so tenderly and loving. Shy, but curious with such a wonderful disposition. I'm great at kitty-sitting but to have one of my own requires a responsiblity I'm not ready to commit to.

I was telling Princess about her today. She (the kitty) was so shy when she arrived, she hid behind the sofa . I had to go shopping and when I came back she was out and about exploring. Her beautiful long fur and splendid tail was covered with dust balls. (I did mention she was behind my sofa didn't I?) Princess suggested I should put cat nip under my bed. I wonder what she was inferring by that?? :->

Anyway, I'm looking forward to bonding, and having a sweet face waiting for me when I get home from work . We'll see how that goes, as I'm told, cats dance to their own tune.

She's soooooooooooooooo sweet!

Saddam Hussein- April 28, 1937

Tarot Card Equivalent 4/28/1937

Public Role
Words that embody your presence are "Authority, Compulsion, Intimidation, Sterility".
Words that embody things that may be a part of you are "Drama, Hell".
Words that embody people or things in your periphery are "Africa, Agility, Ambition, Aurora, Author, Barbarism, Beast, Beauty, Bitter, Boat, Change, Chariot, Cocktail, Conversation, Craving, Cross, Dazzle, Death, Defiance, Energy, Fire, Forest, Gold, Iridium, Jackal, Judge, Jury, Luck, Melody, Messiah, Mink, Monkey, Occult, Ocean, Omen, Palace, Pinnacle, Prayer, Radio, Redemption, Rich, Rock, Seer, Sentiment, Shepherd, Spring, Tantra, Tarot, Tide, Time, Vassal, Violet, Vixen, Vulture, Warlock, Weapon, Wisdom"

None of that sounds really complementary, apropo maybe ???? It's all in the cards.........

Today I had the nicest guy in the office. He moved here 5 years ago and had lived in Toronto for 10 years in the Queen St. W. area. We had tons of things to talk about. I don't think?? he talked as much as me, as his mouth was open for different reasons. HaHa. (that's one of the perks of my job) Anyway, after he left, I asked the receptionist if she thought he played on my team. NO WAY, she said, he's much too pretty. (There were other indications)
I was actually glad to hear that, because he is someone that I would like as a friend. Very peaceful and comfortable with himself. I know it's possible, but for me, I can't have a friendship with a heterosexual man. They pretend that it is, but ultimately there comes the time when they want more.
Women are great, we are sisters but as I grew up with three brothers(my best friends) sometimes....... I just like the male input.

Someone interrupts the HBO satellite feed during the movie The Falcon and The Snowman. For five minutes, two-thirds of their customer base receives the message: Good evening HBO from Captain Midnight. $12.95 a month? No way! (Showtime-Movie Channel Beware.) Three months later, the FCC arrests Florida satellite dish retailer John R. MacDougall for the crime.

Talk about aggressive sale tactics, ya gotta' love it!

Had a bad/good day............who you gonna call? No one...........Blog!

That's the beauty of blogs, you can bitch and complain. Get it out of your system without actually hurting anyone. A lot cheaper than a therapist and no time limit. The tag "blog" has to be a pseudonym for "hey, what about me". Think about it, there is so much stress in our lives nowadays, we need a place to vent. Our friends are wonderful but they can only take so much, just as we can only handle so much from them. BLOGGING.......... the answer to all our frustrations. From sharing memories, troubles at work or life in general, or wonderful things that have happened to you. It's like a daily journal that you happen to share with others. Now, some people use it for their own morally righteous opinions, but that's okay too, it's their thing. Personally, I enjoy a blog that is light and makes me laugh. After work, I like a light read, not War and Peace. :->

Happy Blogging

In a telephone interview, Michigan judge Francis Bourisseau explains that he would never grant an abortion to a minor, except perhaps for white girls raped by blacks. For some reason, this statement manages to attract wide attention.

1991, Can you believe it?
They should have strung him up from a tree!!!

I am so proud of myself today.

I happen to have a unique memory, people say I am like a computer. I can tell you what you were wearing, the color and style of your hair. All the details of our conversation, from where you lived, your job, your b/g friend, etc. From 10-20 years ago.( you get the picture)
Actually, it's just a memory for details, I don't know why I do, I just do.

BUT............ simple things, nuhn-uhn, like for example: My bathroom sink is somewhat plugged, meaning the water is very slow to go down. Every morning for the past week, I say to myself, I have to get some liquid plumber or draino today. Next morning comes, shite I forgot, I have to get liquid plumber today. This goes on I swear, so finally today I decided to use association technique. Whenever I thought of idiot, I thought of me and my sink. It worked!!!!!

The Supreme Court of Canada declares that though women are indeed legal "persons," they are nevertheless ineligible to serve in the Canadian Senate. The Court agreed that the term "person" applies equally to humans of both genders, but the British North America Act referred specifically to "fit and qualified persons" -- necessarily excluding unfit and unqualified people (aka females).

That was 78 years ago, we, aka females, have come a long way. Rosa Parks rode the Montgomery Bus 50 years ago.............

Today's Test Students

This test has only one question, but it is a very important one!!!
By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally.
The test features an unlikely, completely fictional(unfortunately) situation in which you will have to make a decision. Remember that your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous. Please read slowly and give due consideration to each line. No Cheating!!!!!

You are in Florida, Miami to be specfic. There is chaos all around you, caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of bibical proportions and you are a photo journalist working for a major newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster.

The situation is nearly hopeless. You are about to shoot career-making photos.

There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is unleashing all its distructive fury.

Suddenly, you see a man floundering in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer, somehow the man looks familiar. It's George Bush!

At the same time, you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under.......forever.

You have two options :

You can save the life of G.W. Bush OR you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize photo, documenting the death of one of the world's most powerful men.

So here's the question, and please give an honest answer.

Would you select high contrast colour film, or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white?

198 negroes are killed when the Rhythm Night Club burns down in Natchez, Mississippi. According to one eyewitness: "Everyone was trying to get out and crushing each other as the fire was burning them. All were crying and yelling and after a while I could smell the burning meat. I hope I never see anything like it again." The fire is blamed on the decorative but highly-combustible Spanish moss.

Sad way to start a blog, but infinitely true.

I started the day off by having a very serious conversation with my bestest friend, who shall hereonin be known as, The Pink Princess, because if I used her actual name, she would decapitate me. The conversation was about the tooth fairy. I have been told by another good friend that I have the "sense of ridiculous", which I took as a compliment. It takes one to know one, so The Princess and I hit it off immediately. After the tooth fairy discussion was exhausted we moved on to her experience, the day before, at a bakery. It's supposed to be the best bakery in town. Anyway, she went there yesterday at noon and there were only 2 loafs of bread left on the shelves. There was one guy behind her that took the last remaining one and another guy behind him. "Any more bread", the last guy inquired? A nod to the day old was what he got in response. She said she gripped her loaf oh so tightly at this point and thought, "thank god I didn't stop for that mocca". Is the bread that good I inquired? It's okay she said, but I definitely wouldn't want the day old.

215 people are killed and 1,500 injured when two miles of sewer lines explode in Gaudalajara, Mexico. 20 city blocks in the downtown area are leveled by the blast. A corroded petroleum pipeline had filled the sewer with explosive fuel.

Jeezus, that puts a whole new spin on "shootin' the shit" doesn't it.

Funny Story(to me)

An employee that has been a pain in my ass for the past year?? is finally moving to the great west. Winnipeg.........good place for her. She is lazy, has no initiative and downright annoying. As it is a clinic I couldn't really get rid of her myself. The owner of the clinic is a sweetheart of a man that sees no wrong in anyone, thinking they will learn. Yeah, right! Pigs will fly too. But I digress, here's the funny part.

Last Wednesday, in our staff room on a small table, is a small daily journal wrapped in cellophane with my sisters business card inside. I know it's hers (the employeee) , as she said she had a meeting with a bank at lunchtime. When I saw her later I said, oh, you met my sister today. She said "what"? I explained that my sister was the manager. (I have mentioned this to her before but.........) She was so intent on impressing the male that was dealing with her she didn't realize there is a higher power. Anyway, she said "the woman" who came in later was quite interested in her idea. ( My sister is diplomatic, she says that to everyone I'm sure) Okay, none of my business I said , "I don't speak to my sister about patient's and she doesn't discuss clients, it's unethical."
I remember asking my sister months ago how to deal with inept employees. I did mention an employeee I was having trouble with but no names were mentioned. I don't know if she remembered or not. What I do know is that, on that table where the daily journal was, the journal is gone but the business card remains.

Lewis Keseberg, the final member of the Donner Party still stranded in the mountains, is escorted to safety by a fourth rescue party. Later accounts hold that Keseberg was discovered "seated, like a ghoul, in the midst of dead bodies, with his face and hands smeared with blood, and a kettle of human flesh boiling over the fire.

Donner......Dahmer, Jeffrey had his own party.

Murder....... I'm remembering my cousin now. Every summer my uncle and his family used to visit us from Massachusetts. Holly, my cousin was 1 year younger than me and we were inseparable . She was quite beautiful and when we were always told we looked alike, it was a real compliment. Years went by and as we got older, she didn't come with the family, as she did her own thing at home, as teenagers do. It is 13 years now that Holly is dead. She went missing one fall and it wasn't until the following spring that her body was found because they has a great deal of rain that year and she was washed up from her burial site. HIS favorite fishing hole. The man who murdered Holly was not caught until a few years later when he did a few more in Florida. He is now on death row. Capital Punishment??? It doesn't bring back our loved ones does it. An eye for an eye, no. But maybe it saves someone elses loved ones.

Singer Bobby Brown is arrested at Disneyworld for beating a man and tearing off his ear. Neil Kelly, the man with the reattached ear, later sues Brown for $6.6 million but eventually settles out of court for an undisclosed sum.

Holy Shitt, I thought Mike Tyson was the only guy that held that claim to fame.

I woke up today and it was raining cats and dogs. Who the hell came up with that expression anyway? I love the rain, but not so much when I have to walk to work in it. Bad for the hair. Well, I usually call my bestest friend every morning before I leave and today I was sitting in my living room just about to call her and..........................looking out my window, the pouring rain looked really weird. I swear, I have never seen this transformation. Pouring rain one minute, then SNOW. WTF. At first I was happy, that rain was really coming down and snow is easier to deal with. You know the hair. BUT, it was crazy. Nothing but huge slush puddles all over the place. I think that was nature's way of saying, don't get carried away, spring will be here soon enough.

The Maritimes

After living here for the past 2 -3 years I've learned that these people have their priorities straight. For example, they have drive-thru liquor stores, even 24 hour ones . One was even open yesterday, yes on Good Friday. I didn't go there ( already stocked up) but I was told of it by a person at work. These are the same people who fight against stores open on sunday. Go figure, liquor stores yeah, grocery stores nay. They don't have Brewer Retail Stores, just liquor stores. Too many stops I guess, get everything at one place, saves time.

They are also one of the most enviromentally conscious places in Canada . Apparently the recycling program here (Halifax) is so successful that Toronto has asked the man responsible to devise a program for them. Beware, he's tough!

Everyone here is educated, they all have a degree. The sad part is that once they have their degrees there's nothing to do with it unless they go on to graduate school . Therefore, they have all these educated kids working for minimum wage, which sucks here.

The good part is (totally selfish) when you go shopping or to a pub you're dealing with intelligent people. Eg. making change. At a store when the total amount adds up to $16.26 and you give them a twenty with a loony and 26 cents, they don't look at you funny. They act like you are doing them a favor. The other day a drug store had tylenol on sale, $2.99 for 20 gelcaps. The girl said they didn't have them in stock but they would sell me a package of 40 for $ 5.98 . That would not happen in Toronto, I can't tell you the number of times I have tried to do the change thing and all I got was puzzled looks. I love Toronto but this place is kinda' growing on me.

Washington Post reporter Janet Cooke wins a Pulitzer Prize for her story about Jimmy, an 8 year old heroin addict. Strangely, police could find no trace of this boy. And this was one of those investigative journalism Pulitzers, not a fiction Pulitzer, so she was forced to return the award two days later. Cooke later clerked part-time at a department store cosmetics counter in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Hmmmmm.......... me thinks this sounds an awful lot like James Frey's fiction addiction.

Good Friday

It's only a holiday now but used to be so much more. I went to a catholic school with nuns as teachers. The school was also right next door to the church, so we had to go to every mass and attend every funeral that took place. To this day, everytime I smell incense, I see the priest shaking it (in a silver thing with a long chain) around someone's coffin.

Good Friday was my favorite mass. As a small child I was mesmerized by the priest's attire. The beautiful muticolored cloaks he wore(vestments), the regal mitra simplex (fancy hat) and holding this big cross as he went to each wonderous picture. (The Stations of the Cross)
I still have a fixation with these pictures and would love to have them on my walls . They are closing down quite a few churches these days so maybe I might get lucky. Somehow "their loss my gain" doesn't seem appropiate". Will I go to hell? ( That ole' catholic guilt trip )

The Hong Kong Eastern Express reports that China sanctions the consumption of aborted human fetuses as a "health benefit." One practitioner willing to admit a taste for this is Dr. Zou Qin of the Luo Hu Clinic, who boasts having consumed more than 100 meals of human veal -- stew and soup, mostly.

Hold that thought.........

Zou Qin, a doctor who claimed to have aborted several hundred unborn and eaten 100 fetuses herself, said, “People normally prefer [fetuses from] young women, and even better, the first boy and a male.”
She justifies the practice: “They are wasted if we don’t eat them . . Zou Qin has fed fetuses to her sister’s children. “I wash them with clear water until they look transparent white and then stew them. Making soup is best.”

I guess soup is the way to go........

A Day In The Life

What type of job allows you to experience so many different facets? Today I had conversations with a woman that had a very hard life until 11 years ago she met a rich man and now lives in the lap of luxury. A sweet eighteen year old boy that is in university and looking forward to a baby boy in 6 months, Garrett Conraad(Swedish)Jacob Gray. A university professor that is brilliant but in the middle stages of alzheimer's. She was head of the anatomy dept. and used to travel the world with her lectures. When she first came in today I asked her if there were any changes in her medical health. She said no, then took a minute and said "not that I would remember". I cracked up, you gotta' love it, she was joking. But afterwards I have her repeating the same sentence to me, over & over during her appointment, that's not so funny. Then I have him, her husband also a professor, sweet soul that he is , telling me how he copes. So sad. Then I have a older gay gentleman that is a teacher that is retiring in June. (We talk about American Idol, what a hoot!) By the way, I'm not a fan but whatever they like to talk about I'm there. His partner has not been in to see me for a long time and I send a message home. Get your ass in here pronto! I spent a lot of time on his oral health and do not intend to see it go down the drain. Let's see now, who else? Oh yes, there's the older lady that said I should have sterile wipes in the reception area because of the magazines everybody handles. That's an excellent idea I said (with sincerity) but what happens when you leave here. What about the door? What about the public transit that you use? What about the money you handle? etc.,etc.

I LOVE my job! :-)

April 9

Education and Sharing day is a day made by the United States Congress in honor of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson's (1902-1994) efforts for education and sharing for Jews and non-Jews alike. During his lifetime the Rebbe opened scores of center's of education called "Chabad Houses". Today there are over 4000 centers and institutions of education in 71 countries. It was inaugurated April 18, 1978 by president Jimmy Carter and since proclaimed annually on the Jewish birthday of Menachem Mendel Schneerson. In 2006 it was April 9.

Sharing Day, hmmmmm, I don't like to share my things. My books especially. For some reason when I have people over they look at all my books (I have a few) and feel that they should read more. They inevitably start perusing my bookshelves for one to borrow. It's insane and I can't explain it, but my heart starts to go in palpitations. A lot of people treat books like they are only there for their enjoyment, to be used and then abandoned. My books are like my family, near and dear to me. It would be like lending out your mother or sister, not knowing what condition they would be in when, or if they were returned .

I now have a special shelf for these occasions, books I have never read (nor have any interest in doing so). I gently lead my guests in their direction and rave how wonderful they are. I have never got one of those books back, nor do I care. My family is safe.

April 8, 1953
Seven years' hard labour for KenyattaJomo Kenyatta has been sentenced to seven years hard labour for his part in the organisation of the rebel Mau Mau movement.
The leader of the Kenya African Union, who was found guilty on all charges, was also given three years hard labour to run concurrently for being a member of the movement.
Five others, Fred Kubai, Richard Achieng, Bildad Kaggia, Paul Ngei and Kungu Karumba were also sentenced to seven years hard labour for assisting in the management of Mau Mau.

Died 1978
His brilliance gave strength and aspiration to people beyond the boundaries of Kenya, indeed beyond the shores of Africa. Just as one light shines in total darkness and provides a rallying point, so did Ken-yatta become the focus of the freedom fight for Kenya over half a century to dispell the darkness and injustice of colonialism. Before matter can become light, it has to suffer the rigours of heat. So did Kenyatta suffer the rigorous of imprisonment to bring independence to Kenya. As the founding father of Kenya, and its undisputed leader, he came to be known as Mzee, Swahili for a respected eider.

The Man
There is Kenyatta the leader who united all races and tribes for the freedom struggle; Kenyatta the orator who held his listeners entranced, Kenyatta the journalist who launched the first indigenous paper to voice his people's demands; Kenyatta the scholar who wrote the first serious study about his people; Kenyatta the teacher who initiated love for Kenyah culture and heritage; Kenyatta the farmer who loved his land and urged his people to return to it; Kenyatta the biographer who documented his 'suffering without bitterness'; Kenyatta the conservationist who protected Kenya's priceless fauna and flora; Kenyatta the father figure who showered love and affection on all; Kenyatta the democrat who upheld the democratic principle of one-man one-vote; Kenyatta the eider statesman who counselled other Heads of State, and finally Kenyatta the visionary who had a glorious image of Kenya's future and toiled to realise it.
Since ideas are more enduring than human bodies and sacrifices last longer than sermons thus the light that is Kenyatta burns on to illuminate the path of Kenya.

I don't think that I have any personal memories today that can surpass this.

Happy Brew Day!

On April 7, breweries all over America will raise a pint in celebration of the day that beer once again became legally available at the end of prohibition.

YEAH, GOOD MOVE!!

Years ago, there used to be dry/wet areas of Bloor West Village. There was even this restaurant that served liquor on one side and not on the other. Figure that one out! Apparently there was this 90 something year old guy on the committee that always voted against allowing alcolol. It had something to do with John George Howard who donated High Park to the city with the stipulation, no consumption of alcohol allowed. This is the last "dry" area of the city of Toronto. (High Park)

PS The old guy died eventually and they soon got rid of that antiquated premise.

Howard Hughes dies of health complications related to syphillis?????

I think my receptionist is growing on me, slowly. We had this patient in that is having bridgework done by a specialist. The existing teeth that the bridge is being anchored
on are 'iffy. Let's just say that thay don't have a bone to stand on! Anyway she says that he's lucky his estimate to the insurance company is being judged on by girls in his office, instead of the usual routine of going through a group of dentists hired by the insurance company. If this were the case, she said he would get a stamped reply saying, "I don't fucking think so."

I think I'd like to get one of those stamps, red of course, in big letters. Have a great day!

Bad news for Egyptian rapists! Egypt repeals a 1904 law granting rapists the right to escape punishment if they marry their victims. It seems that this was encouraging the abundant practice of rape, rather than discouraging it.

My kitchen taps are still leaking, I have to do something soon. Last fall I was complaining about them to a friend and said they needed caulking. She was semi listening and she said "WHAT??".
I said my taps need caulking, c a u l k i n g.
Right on cue, I said, that's not the only thing around here that needs cocking.
I guess you had to be there.

The Golden Proportion

"What is beauty?". Is beauty only in the eye of the beholder, or are there some absolute values? Beauty is a mystery! "I know not what beauty is, but I know that it touches many things", Dürer .If we study the beauty of nature, teeth, or art we will discover a common principle running throughout. This common principle is the universal recognition of pleasant proportion. We all have a natural understanding of good proportion much in the same way as we know how to divide a line in half or erect a perpendicular. We easily agree that an object of art has good or bad proportion, or that this face looks too long, or too short and out of proportion. This magical connecting thread of proportion, known since antiquity, is non other than the Golden Proportion, a phenomenon related to beauty. The following notes illustrate just a few facets of the mystery and magic of this proportion. The understanding of this concept will enable us to take a first step on a journey of discovery into an unexpected dimension of beauty which affects our lives at every turn. It is one of the building blocks of beauty that we can easily apply to our dental work, confident of success.

The Golden Ratio
Throughout history, the ratio for length to width of rectangles of 1.61803 39887 49894 84820 has been considered the most pleasing to the eye. This ratio was named the golden ratio by the Greeks. In the world of mathematics, the numeric value is called "phi", named for the Greek sculptor Phidias. The space between the collumns form golden rectangles. There are golden rectangles throughout this structure which is found in Athens, Greece. Phidias widely used the golden ratio in his works of sculpture. The exterior dimensions of the Parthenon in Athens, built in about 440BC, form a perfect golden rectangle.

Many artists who lived after Phidias have used this proportion. Leonardo Da Vinci called it the "divine proportion" and featured it in many of his paintings. The famous "Mona Lisa". Try drawing a rectangle around her face. Are the measurements in a golden proportion? You can further explore this by subdividing the rectangle formed by using her eyes as a horizontal divider. He did an entire exploration of the human body and the ratios of the lengths of various body parts.

You can do the following explorations by using a protractor to draw on paper, or by using Geometer's Sketchpad.

Draw a regular pentagon (to get you started recall that the interior angles have measure 108 degrees) and also draw in one diagonal of the pentagon. Measure the length of one side of the pentagon and measure the length of the diagonal. What is the ratio of the side to the diagonal?

A German psychologist by the name of Gustav Fechner studied the crosses in graveyards and discovered an interesting fact about their dimensions. Measure the upper and lower portions of the main stem of the cross which is cut by the crossbar. What is the ratio of the lengths of these two portions?

Draw an isosceles triangle with base angles equal to 72 degrees. Measure the length of the shorter side and the two legs, which of course have the same length since this is an isosceles triangle. What is the ratio of the lengths?

Input the number "five" into your calculator. Raise it to the .5 power, then mulitiply by .5
*What do you get?*
Square your result and subtract 1.
*What do you get?*
Take the reciprical of your result and add 1.
What is your final result?
Does this number look familiar? Why do you think this occurs?
Sometimes we refer to this magic number as Phi, using the greek symbol.

Dust
House dust mites, or more specifically their airborne feces, are a potentially serious allergen.Their basic food source are skin flakes - dander - which make up ca 80% of household lint.

I absolutely hate dust. I'm a tidy person, clean my dishes, make my bed, vaccum, etc. BUT I get dust! I don't have knickyknacks or any other stuff that I call dust collectors but there it is. I used to live in High Park with the streetcars going by all day and blamed it on them with all their rumbling. Now I live in a sorta' quiet city and I still have "it". Here they're telling me that 80% of my skin flakes are what I hate. Do I hate myself? Hmmmmmmmm
